I did not say sell out as was done in the past. I said compromise, as in come to a responsible agreement. For instance immigration, as it stands now:
"We will not talk about path to citizenship until we have secured the borders"
"We will not talk about securing the borders until we have a path to citizenship for those already here"
Why can't we address both at the same time and get the issue resolved?
I do not believe you have to give up any of your rights to fix a lot of more serious problems facing this country. If you believe otherwise, I would like to know what they are.

The government is broken. I posted a possible solution and was hit by a lot of nay saying.
Apparently be-itching will solve the problem because that's all I have seen in response.
If you have a better idea, say it. If all you can do is complain, then I suggest you get used to the status quo or worse, because that is not going to change anything.

I better go buy an Enquirer. Are you two thinking about seeing other people?

Heaven forbid! That would be bigamy! ;-)

Be sure to keep in mind the country was in bad straits at the end of the Carter Administration then Ronnie took over and turned it around lickity split. Considering all aspects including hope and change, patriotism along with those measured by the government, we haven't done as well since. Maybe there's another man like him around the corner. Nobody saw him coming but they sure knew when he started things going again.

            Here's a question…

If he's an evil genius, he would have known he'd cause a massive spike in gun and ammo sales. Why would he do that?

Because guns are not a factor during non-violent revolution.

We tried dealing with both issues at once before. Turned out that the securing the border was not on the agenda of those who wanted immigration reform. Care to explain why I should believe them when they say they will agree to and do what is needed for securing the border this time?

Be itching wont solve the issue but neither will a path to citizenship without securing the border. They can come up with all sorts of ideas BUT I wont believe any of it until they have done what is needed to secure the border first. History shows they have no intention of securing the border.

So it was an acceptable consequence of the strategy, and probably a diversion to us, making us focus on the wrong problem, while allowing them to point at us and call us terrorists.

Or just to give them a reason to demonize us, period.

The earlier problem was that the solution was more or less a gentleman's agreement that closing the border would follow creating a path to citizenship. As we know, there are not many gentlemen in Washington.
I believe both can be done together if the legislation creating a path to citizenship ALSO includes border control, or vice-versa. Somewhat of a "trust but verify".
