How about about citizens of countries who have no ebola cases not coming to the USA because ebola is present here? Maybe no travel by anyone to/from any country/continent that has had an ebola case unless they first spend 21 days in isolation? That is what hysteria and fear and overreaction lead to. Don't believe it?

    It has happened:

One problem with the establishment approach is all the health care workers, including this New York physician, who caught Ebola in West Africa. I believe its about 450, half of whom have died. None of them has been able to point to a lapse in protocol where they might have caught it.
So how did they become infected? Until we know, I would say at a minimum there needs to be a pre travel quarantine on anyone coming here from the affected areas of West Africa.

No one has been shown to contract ebola except those that have had close physical contact with victims who are demonstrating advanced symptoms of the disease. And many who did have close physical contact did not contract the disease. Even the Dallas victim's girlfriend was not infected, nor the nurse's boyfriend nor her dog. It is a very hard disease to contract and essentially impossible to contract through casual contact. . .
When discussing topics like contagious diseases, I don't use absolutes like "no one" or "all" as too often, exceptions can be found. I support the quarantine and would rather see us being over-protected than under. With our numbers and access to transportation, an epidemic could easily flare up caused by only a few carriers. The President's refusal to implement a quarantine is just another mystery on how this man functions, something like refusing to show us his birth certificate. A quarantine need not affect travel going to an ebola region or affect aide being sent there, it would just pose a restriction on those coming from that region. In the words of that famous Democrat from California, ex-Speaker of the House, and ex-Mayor of San Francisco, "If it saves just ONE life, then it's worth it." I hope your prediction "that no one will be diagnosed with ebola because of contract with" (the doctor) turns out to be correct because just prior to turning himself in for treatment, he mingled with quite a few New Yorkers. So let's just agree to disagree which is how many of my grievance meetings with the union representatives ended.

Obviously what I posted is my opinion.
        And everyone knows about opinions.
Therefore, I agree - to disagree.

You know the old saying: "Be careful of what you wish for as it just might come true." I wouldn't "feel better every time we have a new case diagnosed here in the USA." because "The end results (DOESN'T) show how difficult it is to contract or spread the disease." It only shows how many cases of it have been diagnosed. How many cases of it that have NOT been diagnosed cannot be determined. "I also (DO NOT) hope this trend continues. This is some really bad stuff, it turns your insides into jelly. Just my two cents, you certainly have the right to your opinion.

Until someone, anyone, is shown to have contracted the disease from casual contact, I do not believe going into hysterics is warranted.
The quarantine has been implemented at New Jersey and New York airports. The only thing this will affect is the number of professional volunteers who would otherwise go to Africa to help out. And, of course, the service men and women who are being sent there and upon return get to face a month of isolation instead of getting back to their families.

The NY doctor, the latest confirmed case, did it right. He monitored his temperature twice a day. When it became elevated, he was hospitalized. I predict that no one will be diagnosed with ebola because of contact with him.
I respectfully disagree. The virulence of the disease is still in question since nurses with protective clothing contracted it. I would not be so cavalier about this virus. Would you allow your children to play at the home of an infected individual? I think there are many cases unreported. I have no proof of such other than my innate distrust of the G.

Please do not read more into my comments than I have written. I hope the trend continues showing that ebola is extremely difficult to transmit. I certainly do not hope that we continue to see more cases. I would be quite happy to never find out how easily it is transmitted because we do not get another victim.

We currently don't have a Surgeon General. The old one quit and hasn't been replaced yet. We do have an Ebola Czar, but he's only a spin doctor.

Diagnosed to be infected, of course not.
Not diagnosed but maybe being monitored for some reason and showing no symptoms, yes.

(But then it would really be her decision since our 'child' is pushing 40. )

I don't have 1000 but I do have 40 with a house smack in the middle of it. I have often felt that, for reasons other than ebola, it sure would be nice to weld the gate shut permanently.
