Ok but if one of the boss violets throws a fit I'm aiming them at you and that would be a bad thing.

I was playing superintendant on a multi family apt complex, like a battered woman shelter, that kind of a thing. Again all on the sly, we were suppose to take different routes to work so people wouldnt know where we was going or some fool thing.
Another agency that was over the top in stupid. But not related to the story.

Anyhow we had a sparky (electrician apprentice) a man of color, African American, I'm not sure what today's PC correct term is. Good kid, great personality, young fella but he couldn't do anything without screwing it up. This went on for several weeks as the building progressed from rough in, to service to fixtures outlets the whole ball of wax.

I was two hatted playing carpenter at the same time so we interacted alot.

Well finally I'm working on something and he put in an overhead light fixture that was actually straight and correct, went over and flipped the switch and it actually came on and worked. Without thought I said good job boy. Not a racist thought in my head, I was happy he finally did something right the first time.

Two days later 3 very large black males, and I'm talking large show up at the job shack and demand to see the man in charge. I said as far as in charge on sight that would be me.

They started to tell me about receiving a complaint with racial slurrs and I could sense they were gonna make my life not good.
I told them the story which didn't seem to impress them, I then explained that I had stuff to build and things to do and I didn't have time to play their games. Go find a real job and get out of my shack!

Surprisingly they complied, I was worried for probably at least 5 minutes or more but they never came back and I never heard nothing from nobody. Kid showed up like nothing happened and I went along with that.

I should write a book about all the cockamamy BS these agencies pull.

I am guessing that happened around the later part of the 70's? Given the "boy" comment was the intrusive one. Maybe early 80's at the latest

80's mid to late, I lose all track of time when I'm having so much fun in the game of life.

Also had an OSHA dude show up and give my guys a hard time. One guy year round wore shorts. OSHA dude said they had to be long enough to cover his knees, so he pulled his shorts down to cover his knees and went back to bending nails.

About the same time a lot of construction flaggers and such were getting cowboy hats that were hard. Unless somebodies doing stuff over your head there really ain't no reason for a hard hat especially a flagger.

We had some floating around for awhile, kept one in my truck back in my dream of moving to Texas days. Still got the dreams, don't have the hat.

Ain't seen one in a long time. Ain't really looked though.

Last time I saw one was in Harbor Freight several years ago. Damn, might be 10 years or more.

What little construction there still is around here, you hardly ever see anyone in a hardhat.

I used to work in a aluminum plant and it was mandatory to have safety shoes, glasses and hard hats at all times.

You see, anytime we conservatives quote foxnews as our source, our opposition just rolls their eyes and our message typically falls on dead ears.

The issue is not whether you or I perceive anything wrong with the internet...the issue is why does the government feel that they are the answer?
