Good post. We are definitely headed the wrong direction aren't we?

Illegal aliens know all about the free health services available just across the border. Anyone who thinks ACA is affordable, think again. ACA rates go up next year and will continue to do so, the "affordable" rates are only to get people signed up. ACA was launched at the expense of Medicare. OB looted Medicare to get ACA started. The ACA subsidies from the government are considered as taxable income. Only the Dems went along with ACA. The Reps. voted no. IMO, the Dems have great ideas only they don't know how to implement them nor are they interested in any oversight. Last year, my former employer, ATT, dropped my healthcare policy. I'm currently a dependent on my wife's State run health plan. My doctor will no longer accept Medicare only patients, they need a secondary health plan to be accepted. O.K. time to get off the soapbox. There is no solution just over the horizon.
I see how retirees from "phoneco" are treated. You folks have already gotten the shaft that is headed towards the current employees!

In all fairness and truth be told, ATT has always told me during my career there "While we are paying for the healthcare plans of current and retired employees, we reserve the right to make changes." Well, they paid for my healthplan from 1966 to 2014 and I was hoping to pass away as other retirees have done while under the "umbrella" ATT was providing so it was no surprise to me that when the ACA came along, things would change. I place this change directly on the shoulders of OB and the Dems. ATT was up front about their coverage. I hope current employees understand that once they retire, they may need their own healthcare plan.

I've need 15 more to reach 30, or 22 more to be old enough not to have to find other work after retiring. I'm just hoping I can continue my career there for that long. I make no assumptions about what to expect that far down the road. Only thing I'm counting on is my savings. The pension probably won't exist by then, and who knows about health insurance.

I've lost my primary physician, he went to a clinic, no overhead..........................I paid a $190 fine for not having it last year. Have it this year, but that could end shortly, if the court says it's illegal to give subsidies in states that didn't set up an exchange.

NO kidding. It's not even worth mentioning at this point.

OK, here's an unintended consequence of Unaffordable Care Act, Social Insecurity + other misguided government programs: When I retire, I'm gonna leave my well-paid, high stress job and take another, easier, lower level job. For me that job will be a cakewalk. But for a younger-trying to get ahead in the world-worker, that job was a stepping stone to his career. And it's no longer there for him.

There are always unintended consequences to every action. That's why it's best to just leave things alone and let the market sort things out naturally.
