Well, damn, we agree then. I also support the position that an adult should have the freedom to do what they choose to themselves. Destructive or otherwise.

Edit: If you find yourself in NW Ohio I'll buy you (in light of your history) a coffee.

"yes they should have the freedom to destroy themselves."
People that have never gotten high crack me up on how they imagine pot smokers live. I think they have this idea that they are smoking pot from the time they get out of bed until they pass out at night. Pot smokers are people too, and tend to have jobs, or are going to college, and they treat pot like others would beer or wine. They go to work or class, and come home and have maybe have a smoke. People don't go to jobs or classes (if they are serious about their education), stoned for the most part. They might smoke a little more on weekends, the same way people might drink more beer over the weekend. My first time in college in the 70's I don't remember anyone coming to class high, that I knew of. I've worked some pretty boring jobs that I suspect some of the crew was on something. Some of us would have a couple beers at lunch. I've not seen any lives destroyed from smoking pot, what destroys lives is SWAT teams raiding a house and shooting up the occupants because someone reported they had some of pot. Or the jail time they get if they don't get shot. I suppose there is a worthless class of people, living on welfare, that smoke and drink all day on our dime, but I think that's more of a product of our welfare system that gives them the opportunity to behave like that, than it is the pot's fault. If they didn't have the Welfare they would have to straighten up and get a job. But why bother when we give them everything they need.

Meth heads and Junkies are a different lot, and I don't know much about that crap. Other than it sure seems to ruin a person in a short time. They probably DO stay high all the time. It wouldn't bother me if they shot Meth and white powder drug dealers on sight. That is the stuff that destroys lives, and causes deaths from OD's. I think every Meth or Heroin or Cocaine dealer if they aren't already, is a potential murderer. His product will cause a death sooner or later.

IMHO, I think it's hilarious how some people imagine/feel about marijuana.....................they actually think that it's like Cheech and Chongs " Up in Smoke". Compared to Heroin, Meth, Cocaine, and cigarettes, it's way down on the totempole of dangerous substances. High Fructose corn syrup is more dangerous. I think that most people would be shocked at the amount of marijuana users there are in this country. Alcohol is another killer, and it takes other's lives with it, in certain situations. I would defend anyone's right to imbibe any one of those substances. Crime and marijuana can be linked, just like any other drug. You have people that want to control it, you have people that want to steal it, you have people that protect it. You have lots of money involved. You won't hear me say this too often, but the gov't needs to take control of it. Legalize it, to all adults over 18.......tax the hell out of it......makes it cheaper, competition for your dollar, can you say reduction in deficit? Can you say reduction in violence? Cash crop. Not counting all of the money they can free up, to combat all these other drugs being made and sold. The drugs that do real damage. The chemicals involved in the process of making these drugs are hideous. I know plenty of pot smokers, I grew up in the late 60's, and the 70's. They are all productive members of society, they pay taxes, they don't molest children when they're high on that devil weed. They don't expose their children to it. they are just like everyone else. They just choose pot as their vice, over other, more damaging drugs starting with alcohol.

It's not like Cheech and Chong because today's mj is 50% stronger than it was in their day.

I love how the potheads want to paint all dope smokers as exactly alike. Just like everyone else, only they toke a bit on weekends and their lives are perfect. Maybe even on the job. Yeah right. Dream on.

Most of the pot smokers I know are regular people. Some are even business owners and the like. But I wonder what would happen to their businesses if their smoking became public? They are responsible for more livelihoods than just their own. I'm not sure you need crack or meth to destroy yourself.

But now you've dragged me off thread too.

and YOU know this how???????????????????? There's been weed coming from Hawaii, Cambodia, Vietnam, Columbia, Nepal, etc. since the 70's that would put todays weed grown here to shame. Good marijuana is nothing new...................been around forever. I guess some people like to believe what the gov't tells us. Super good marijuana doesn't even reach the U.S. anymore. They try to grow it here, and the quality is good, but still isn't as potent as in the past. You'd be a fool to think that all people who smoke pot are alike, just like all alcoholics are the same.

One of my friends from High School started smoking weed in Vietnam. From pot he graduated to hash. Getting high was all that he lived for and a drug deal gone wrong almost got him killed. He became so dependent on getting high that you couldn't have a conversation with him without the subject coming up. The last I heard he was in a mental institution, because he had lost touch with reality. I wonder how those of you who support the recreational marijuana would feel if my friend was your son. Would you rethink your position if someone high on pot broadsided your car and killed your wife. People keep saying that pot is no worse than alcohol. You can drink responsibly, but you can't smoke pot responsibly. There's an old expression that two wrongs don't make a right. When people ruin their lives by using drugs it affects more than those individuals. It affects every life that they touch. We don't need more of a bad thing. What we need is more good things. Some people have to learn the hard way. Those are the people who favor the legalization of recreational marijuana use.

There is also such a thing as having an addictive personality, or to put it bluntly, a weak mind. These types of people are going to find whatever gets/helps them to forget reality, and use it. They are not happy with their current reality. Luckily, most of us have a strong enough mind, to stay away from dangerous drugs. These people can't use anything responsibly. Both alcohol, and pot can be used responsibly. Just depends who's using it. Just like firearms.............some people can use them responsibly, and some can't. Are you going to outlaw firearms, because some people can't use them responsibly? Hasn't happened yet. How would you feel if someone drunk shot your wife? These are all foolish questions. Life comes with a set of risks. Human's have addictive personalities. Don't use weed as a crutch excuse for why someone goes on to harder drugs. If they didn't have any of these drugs, they would be sniffing glue, sniffing gas, taking prescription pills, whatever they could find. What it's called is an irresponsible adult. Marijuana the gateway drug.................if I hear that any more, I'll vomit. I guess we should say, alcohol is the gateway to marijuana. That's how it starts. People get their taste of booze before anything else. Malarky.............................I grew up in the sixties and seventies. In the last nine years, I have had 6 close friends that I grew up with, pass away. 4 were from cirrhosis of the liver ie. alcoholics, one from drinking too much, fell asleep with a cigarette, and burned himself and the house up, and one from cancer. Not one of them,(all had tried drugs in their lives), died from marijuana use. If marijuana was so dangerous, you'd hear about people dying from overdoses. You can't even equate the large difference in the damage done to the body drinking alcohol versus pot use. Alcohol ruins more lives, and other's lives, on the planet. Why don't they outlaw alcohol? These foolish laws that they want to put on marijuana use, is no different than the foolish laws they want to put on legal gun owners.

Just a reminder. Today is election day. I expect every conservative Ohioan to vote yes on issue two and no on issue three. We don't need to make smoking pot socially acceptable, nor do we need a monopolistic pot cartel in Ohio.

Thank you Dr. Bone. I wasn't aware that there was no such thing as an addictive personality. It's good to have an expert such as yourself on the panel. BTW, have you seen Bawanna's gun collection?

This is truly sad. Sad as Caitlyn, Seattle wanting to assign restrooms for "it's".
Like my wife said, how does she know Jocko wearing a wig is really an it or just a perv wanting to check out the ladies restroom. Well in that case we'd know, I showed her a picture but.............

Nope, for me I'll continue to be a hardass except for or until a medical need deems it beneficial.
