As thread "owner" I respectfully request this one be shut down. It has run it's course. I accomplished what I needed = getting the word out that this was a bad issue that had little to do with whether or not you wish to legalize pot.

I agree that supporting black markets that are violent is reprehensible. Which is why legalization is a good idea. The majority of Americans apparently don't want to keep acting like it's the 1920s.

Legalizing pot won't bring an end to black market sales. Legalizing pot will only make smoking pot more socially acceptable and increase the number of people using it. If smoking pot was a harmless pastime it wouldn't have been made illegal. It's because it was detrimental to our society that it was made illegal in the first place.

Wow Muggs, that's a pretty vicious bigoted statement right there about executing anyone that uses illegal drugs. Does that include any family members that might smoke? Nieces and Nephews? Grandchildren? People that use it medicinally you might have met and made friends with at the chemo center? With that logic, we should have executed everyone that bought a drink during prohibition, they were funding foreign and domestic terrorists. Probably to a lot bigger tune than pot is contributing to organized crime if they even mess with it. I think they are more into powders where the big money is. What about people that buy it in a legal state and bring it home with them, do they get killed too?

So where are all these lives pot has ruined? I can find about 50 meetings a day in city down the road for people that ruined their lives with alcohol, 1 a day for people with narcotic problems, 0 for people that have problems with pot. I find the hypocrisy of someone who drinks crying about the damage pot is doing to be ludicrous. The pan calling the kettle black.
You had one friend that had a problem with it, more likely he was on harder stuff, probably was a drunk too, but never the less, that doesn't mean everyone is like him. I can't believe you'd have someone killed over something that's legal in several states. Something you wouldn't mind if it was made legal for medicinal purposes. Are you without sin that you'd be the first one to pull the lever on the electric chair or hangman's platform?

I will grant you that hard drugs DO ruin lives, and I'd like to see them done away with, but I thought we were talking about pot in this thread.
