In fact, Trump's mouth is going to take the republican party so far down the toilet that republicans will likely lose control of congress.
The republican party is toast....and it will be Trump's doing.
I have my doubts now.....this could go all the way. The GOP is changing for sure. Hasn't it been changing all along? I also feel that Trump is impacting change in the Dems too. Heck, he is changing politicking too. I am not a fan boy but the guy has had an impact to date. Have to recognize that.

Ryan is focused on fiscal policy and the big issues of budget, debt and entitlements. The current situation is not sustainable and any long term fix is going to involve choices politicians hate because it so easy to be demagogued on the issue. It will take a lot of party discipline and willingness to weather a **** storm. But if they don't do it pretty soon, the country and the rest of the world might see the economy really crash.

I think Ryan sees Trump as undermining his work. Trump has said no Medicare or Social Security reform, he's talked about "restructuring" the debt (ie paying the lenders back less that they were supposed to get) which would destroy the only real asset we have left - the "full faith and credit" of the country. Trump has also made other irresponsible comments and in general is just a wild card who could make responsible legislative action impossible.

There's other stuff too, but I think that's the heart of it.
        Rest in peace Muggsy

            Lindsey's photo is photo-shopped. These aren't.
He looks like he was dipped in a bag of Cheetos in the top pic.
He looks like an airport wind sock in the other.

I still feel that Trump started out as a spoiler for Hillary and that he was going to run as an independent to split the GOP vote, but that he started getting support and realized that he actually had a chance to win the nomination. I don't think he ever expected to have a chance. Once he did, his ego and greed took over, so he went all in. The Presidency is just one more venture that he can exploit for a profit as he runs the country into the ground. I don't think the GOP will ever recover for this.

Paul Ryan is simply considering Romney as an independent bid...

Did you think it was going to anyway? Let's see. The GOP leadership - John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney. On and on. (Bloomberg is a Republican). I am not a Trump fan but compared to the above he is a jewel. I will simply vote against Hellery and hope for the best but to blame Trump for the condition of the GOP? Not I.

I kept hearing about how Paul Ryan was a true conservative. Then his actions proved otherwise. I still think Cruz is a true conservative, but when people whine about Trump not being a true conservative it just makes me laugh. How many times does Lucy pull the football away from Charlie Brown right at the last minute? Charlie Brown needs to kick Lucy in the rear end, and people think that's what Trump's going to do.

The Republican elite have written off 2016, they and Paul Ryan are focused on 2020. As such, they do not want Trump to win. They will be voting for Bernie or Hillary. It's no secret that Paul Ryan has his sights on running for president in 2020. If Trump win 2016, that will be a major problem for him. So don't expect his support for Trump to be anything tacid and for show, since he doesn't want to tick off the people that supported Trump.
