Later this year you will be able to buy the PDX1 in a 50 round Ranger Bonded box for under 30.00. You already can in the other calibers except .380 and 357 mag.

      In both 124 & 147gr?

I sometimes use the Win PDX, but it is the 124gr +p.

If Winchester is on schedule the RA9BA(124+P) manufactured after 7-12 will have the PDX1 bullet. If it was manufactured before that it uses the old bonded bullet that looks like a Gold Dot.

The RA9B(147gr) will change over to the PDX1 bullet later. The old bonded bullet is still a good round.

Last book I read of his, he wasn't a fan of the 147 grain. That book however, was published 5 years ago. From what I've seen in tests from TNoutdoors9 on youtube, the 147 gr Federal HST in standard pressure is a superb round coming out of the business end of a 4" barrel.

The +p version however seems to lose too much penetration because of the higher expansion.

Ditto, Josh. I'm using the very same SD load in my PM9 right now. Keeping the Federal HST 147 gr. for the good times. The weight and travel distance of the 147 is what lead me to choose it over the lighter loads, but this thread has me wondering again. At least, it's given me another good reason to visit my shooting range.

+1 on the Gold dot 124 grains. You can even get a pretty good deal on them at the link below (when you can find them in stock)

ditto ditto on the PDX1 147, that's what i carry as well. i shoot super-x or wwb 147 to train, feels exactly the same.

have not seen a bad test result on that round yet. I was already carrying it before, but TNOutdoors9 has a review earlier this year, said he would be giving it serious consideration as his carry round.

I think the modern 147 in either the federal or winchester pdx1 is NOT your father's 147 that was getting slammed 5, 10, 15 years back as inadequate. Things change.

It's hard to argue with Ayoob. But since I'm more accurate with 147gr and get the next shot off quicker and more accurate I'll stick with the GD 147.

Mike, would I still get free shipping if I ordered ANY three boxes? Thinking of one HST, one GD, and one Ranger.

Thanks, hotpig! I just ordered some ammo. Good prices and free shipping is always a big plus! I have been wanting to try some 147 gr standard pressure, so I got some HST and added another box of GD 124 gr+p. For some reason, my CM9 seems to love those GDs. I can hear and feel a slicker, more positive action when loading those rounds from the magazine. And I agree, the recoil isn't too bad with them. In fact, I have some S&B 115 gr FMJ rounds that seem to kick more. I was shooting qualification rounds for my CC permit using the S&B when my front sight flew off and got lost! It had been removed when the slide was polished, so maybe it didn't get put back on as tight. But I'll bet the kick from those rounds got it to come loose.
                        Very interesting...

UPS will pick it up on Monday. The tracking number will be sent via UPS email when the label prints.

If I had seen this earlier today, I could have asked Mas about the 147 grain stuff. He was doing a Mag 40 class at my local range when I was doing some ballistics testing today.

SGammo is another place to find 50 rnd boxes of good SD ammo. http://www.sgammo.com/

Underwood ammo uses GDs in their ammo and tend to chrono at or above the advertised fps. http://www.underwoodammo.com/
