Just got to dance some cans across the desert floor so far.
It's freaking cold here in Phoenix - Lol.
        But yes, it's a shooter

        Update:
Close to 1000 rounds down the pipe.
Shot 200 Federal HST 230 JHPs this morning at the break of dawn.
Punched a ragged hole out of the bullseye
        Functioned perfectly.
        This thing is a winner!
Really like being able to disassemble with no tools.
And the factory slide release has that modification to push straight in with no idiot scratches
Only issue was the safety drew blood eating the web of my hand
Emailed Dan Wesson and they said there was nothing they could do to resolve that
Had my gunsmith fit a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof Tactical Safety.
        Problem Solved

        If I get a second 1911?
        It will be a Wilson...

Is that a dark blue or black ? It is really sharp.

That's Colt's "Royal Blue". It's done with modern bluing salts, so I'd say the color is blue-black.
The ultra pre-bluing polish done on guns that have the "Royal Blue" finish is what gives that finish such depth (and makes it hard to capture the true color in photographs).
The "Royal Blue" polish was first done on the Python in 1955. It's available as a refinish option from Colt's Custom shop today.

            • Greg since I'm living vicariously through you.. Think you need to get a pair of those grips. Have got to be the best I've ever seen. Surely you have something you can put them on.. don't you?

Not sure those are grips my style, but I do know I don't have any 1911's with that nice of finish. If I did the grips, I'd probably need to go ugly and put them on my Essex

I'm at the gym right now.
Here's a link with pics of the modification.

This is a modification I do on just about all slide stops as it allows easy installation and doesn't affect function. It is easily done with a needle file. To install, the slide stop is positioned directly on top of the plunger and you can feel it saddle over it and push it straight in. Bingo!

Here's a picture of it in place and ready to push straight in.

                        • I keep meaning to do that to a few of mine. I'll use this as an incentive to move it closer to the top of the list.

                          • Have to make a shout out to The Finer Grain - Sarge's Grips.
It's a single guy, hand making some outstanding handgun grips.
My Honduran V-Bob grips are amazing.

I know the DW is no Wilson Combat, Ed Brown or Nighthawk.
But damn, it's dead sexy and is All Aces in my book

                            • Also my 12 mags; Tripp Cobra, Wilson Combat ETM HD and DW branded Checkmate - have all been flawless.
For some reason I'm running the Tripp Cobra flush 7 rounder in the gun and twin Wilson ETM 8 rounders as reloads.

                              • I finally got around to doing a little cosmetic metal work on my RIA 1911FS in 9mm. Some filing/sanding/blasting, then a dip in the parkerizing pot, and it was ready for some VZ grips I picked up on Ebay:
