    Bawanna,

I always give everyone a chance to make it right. I'm giving them as much opportunity as I would anyone else. In fact, more than I would another brand to be honest, just because I have money into this firearm and bought it because it fit a role I really want it to succeed in.

Trust me, I've heard all the fanboy nonsense in the past such as limp wristing, weak grip, etc. That stuff doesn't affect me and I don't even entertain the idea of sending an item in for repair until I've focused on all those variable to remove as many as possible. That way when I call it has a pretty decent clear issue to report with either a known cause or an easy path to follow to a fix.

I also do despise paperwork and working for the state in behavioral health, being in the military, and going for my masters; I've learned to hate paper with a passion.

I'm staying optimistic at this point. I am hoping it was something silly like mag springs being weak (I check to make sure they were the right way), bad follower, or just needing a new extractor. I probably won't get to shoot it till Saturday, but I'll still report what the paper says.

Ok so here's what it says:

replaced barrel, recoil spring, follower, polished extractor, ejector. Lubed tested OK.

      That's a direct quote.

Yikes. Well, on the good side, you've got essentially a new gun. Piece by piece...

At my job, I often have to do repairs on some pretty expensive and complicated equipment. It really annoys me when I can't pinpoint the EXACT cause of a malfunction. I hate just replacing parts and hoping for the best.

If it were me, I'd want to know exactly what the problem was. Debris in the extractor channel, corrosion, etc. Knowing this information would be helpful in preventing this from happening again, and allow you to handle it yourself IF there is a "next time".

Did you detail strip it before you sent it out?
Was the issue due to fitment with the new frame?
Just what was wrong with the old barrel?

Questions like this are ones I would want answered. Having a bunch of mags on hand, along with a brand new recoil assembly would have answered some questions for me. I'd have detailed stripped the slide as well to ensure no "stuff" got into the extractor/ejector channel.

Lots of questions, no exact answer given. Not very confidence inspiring for something you bet your life on every day. Wonder if you could speak with the gunsmith at Kahr that did the work? That would go a long ways toward restoring my confidence in that MK. My car dealer allows this, and they also provide and show me any defective/worn parts when they do a repair. I don't think this is too much to ask, especially when your life depends on it's reliability.

        But, that's just me....

Genin, that should make it run like clockwork. Hoping for a great range report.

Well I have no clue what was wrong with the old barrel but the new barrel is ****! There's a divot in the barrel where steel is then pushed up, must have been caused when they were doing the rifling. So yippie. I will be calling them tomorrow and demanding a new barrel get sent immediately! What the hell is wrong with their quality control?!

In addition, they did some grinding and polishing to the inside of my frame. I'll take pics of that tomorrow and update everyone on what they say about the barrel.

Well they are making me send the slide and barrel back to them. On my dime too. Only cost $7 for priority mail though and they said they'll give me a free mag for my troubles. The saga continues. I'll update you all when I get back from gunnery and hopefully my slide will be waiting for me at home.

Wow...that is just not cool. You'd think they'd make extra sure this one was returned PERFECT.

Yup, very uncool. Just let's me know that they don't really care about checking over the components, they just toss pieces in and test fire. It's almost funny at this point. This gun will just be a tuck away and forget it exists piece. I won't make my money even close to back on it so I refuse to sell it.

You've been a trooper, Genin, and Kahr should really just send you a new MK at this point--one that has been thoroughly inspected and test fired by a senior member of their staff. They could use your original one for training purposes internally in their organization.

Before you send it back, maybe you can include a note and ask them to pretend the firearm is being presented to Mr. Moon. I assume they would spend the time to make sure that one would be perfect.

                        Good luck,

                          Salty,
hahaha I like your thinking. I already shipped them my slide and hope they don't mess up for a third time for Petes sake. On a side note, I bought a nice Glock 43 (blue label discount) and it is amazing!!!! The MK9 will be relegated to the safe.

                            Hmmmm. Sounds familiar.....

Truglo time for you, I'll bet.

Highly recommend the Vickers mag extension for the 43. Nice 8 + 1 capacity, inexpensive, no drama. Talon makes a grip cover for like 2 bucks for them. With the grip for the 43, the feel is excellent. Almost the same price as a Pierce pinkie extension, and feels better (to me).

Should go a long ways toward healing your "wounds". No drama is a good thing!

                              Ed M,
Thank you for the tips. I could not agree with you more that I needed some drama free super compact 9mm in my life. The 43 is fantastic. Shoots very well too (I've shot Glocks for a long time so I am very familiar with their triggers). I asked my wife to grab me some sights for Valentine's Day. I hope she comes through.

Good fortune with your G43 Genin.
I wanted to like that pistol, but they bang the heck out of my knuckles. My G27/26 doesn't do this and is close enough in size that the G43 is an oddball out for me.
                                Regards,
