I recently purchased a used 2005 CW9, with intentions of converting it to a "covert". After putting 300 flawless rounds through it I figured it was ready to chop.
I took some pics along the way. I thought I'd try my first photo tutorial, in case someone else might be considering chopping there's. It's really not that hard, as you will see.
The first pic is just the magazine overlaying, to get an idea for the first cut.

Here is the first cut. I worked very slow and used the grip texturing as my guide. I figured I'd cut it long and sand the rest. This gave me plenty of room to work with.

After a lot of sanding

I decided I want the magazine as flush as possible, and I also wanted mag well cut outs. So that worked out nicely together. I used a washer as a guide for my dremel and sanding drum.

And even more sanding, starting at 180 and finishing at 600 and a 3M extra fine pad. I also added a new bevel inside the mag well.

Good to go, it now resides in an "Uncle Mike's #3, right front pocket. I'm going to pick up a multi tool pouch to carry a couple 6 round mags. Still shoots great, both 6 and 7 round mags. And I will admit to running it a bit dirty.

I'll admit I was a bit nervous but I think it went well. It actually wasn't that bad, I just took my time. If your thinking about it, all I can say is go for it. It's not really that hard.
