Since PM45 is illegal in CA I was thinking about getting a P45 and cutting it down. I'm guessing the longer barrel length will conceal the same as the shorter. If I am to do this it has to be before mid-December when the P45 certification expires. The new certification requires LCI and mag disconnect.

Now you have me thinking what a CW45 would be like if it was chopped to PM45 grip size. I have the pistol and holster, but would need a mag or two.Owner of and sole contributor to the Pocket Guns and Gear blog. http://mousegunaddict.blogspot.com

Load up the truck Old Lincoln, move out of Beverly. You deserve better than that place. I know you been thinking about it.Originally posted by OldLincoln View PostSince PM45 is illegal in CA I was thinking about getting a P45 and cutting it down. Just wait until "Hollywood" designs a really "safe" gun... like they depict bombs in the movies with blinking red light and a beeping countdown-timer... for something you don't want anyone to notice or find!
Then there was that episode of "Jag" where the troops were moving across the field in the dark with BRIGHT GREEN-GLOWING eyepieces! Spooky, but hardly stealthy... Hollywood!

If I move too far from Hollywood I don't think the studio would helicopter me in when we have a shoot. Have to keep in range of whatever that fancy thing is.

Wonder how the CW45 covert would handle with a two finger grip, pinky under? Would you kinda have a PM45 at the price of a CW45 plus some labor?Originally posted by MrToad View PostThat's a cool conversion. The grip is now the length of a CM9, so no, pinky curl, yes. As for recoil, feels the same as before the conversion. There's a bit more mass than with a CM, so I'd imagine it's a bit less if compared to that.Originally posted by eaglefrq View PostI'm guessing you have to curl your pinky underneath the magazine? Or is there still room for a full grip? How is the recoil?

I just did this cut as well, and I found that the material responds really well to a sharp woodworking plane (not so well to files), so after sawing I approached the final length by shaving the grip on a block plane clamped upside down in a vice.
Incidentally I also found that the A & G spacers are rough on files and blades and really need to be worked with sandpaper.

After seeing your post I decided to go for it and cut down the grip on my CW9. The first cut was easy (hacksaw) but the sanding took a little while. I started the sanding with 180 and finished with 600. It came out great. I put back the agrip and trimmed down to fit the new handle. I took it to range and it shot great. Now I’m thinking of selling my PM9.
