I checked the P40 out... took it apart and checked and lubed it a bit. The slide lock spring was bent inward, so I got my needle-nosed pliers and bent it a bit to straighten it. I'll have to watch that spring when putting the slide lock back in.

Then I got out my 1.75" bike tube, made a grip cover, and put it on.

It came with two mags... a 7-shot with a metal flush-mount base plate, and a 6-round with a plastic base. I switched bases, putting the metal one on the 6-round mag, giving me a 6-round flush-mount mag for CCW and then I put the extended grip from a 7-round Kahr PM9 mag on the 7-rounder to give me a 7-round extended grip magazine. I've never liked the plastic "flush-mount" bases and now have 5 of the 7-round extended grip mags for the P40 for range use and carry spares.

I use the 8-round extended grip mags for reloads in the PM9 and the K9.

Like the K9, the P40 drops into my PM9 MiniTuck, so that makes my Minituck one of the best deals ever... everything but the P380 fits!

I got a new cell phone and am trying to learn how to use that, too, tonight.

LG Thrive... AT&T Go Phone. I have over $350 accumulated... don't yack much... cheap... $100 a year, auto-renewed and rolled over quarterly.

I just added data and it was deducted from my balance... cool... thought I would have to cough up more money.

I have the LG Prime and it just doesn't do enough. The Thrive is an Android based Smartphone.

I've got an Android as well. Love the Androids. I'll be picking up the T9 on Tuesday. Can't wait!

I needed 3G to use my phone in SW Colorado. My in-laws have a cell tower in the NW corner of their 7 acres at around 7,300 ft... east of Durango... >$6K/yr rent! AT&T wouldn't work there the last two years, though.

I hope to stay in contact this Xmas... WIFI wherever I can find it if no 3G up in the "hills".

It will sure beat lugging my 9-year-old 8-lb+ laptop and using the phone line!

3G is about as fast as my DSL here ~ 7Mbit/sec down... of course the processor is a bit slower!

So far, I have 550 MFS FMJ, WW100-pack FMJ, Rem UMC JHP 100-pack, 50 Fed Champ FMJ, 20 Win PDX1 165-gr on hand, & 250 rds 165-gr Gold Dots on the way.

I could'a bought a nice 1911 and not had to stock up on a new caliber!

I guess I'll have to start my testing without the Gold Dots, though.

I was intrigued by the P40 with Magna-porting. It ought to make a good CCW alternative. I'll have to upgrade the sights, though... not fond of post and dot.

It fits the same holster as my PM9 and PM45... and the K9. I have all of the Kahr calibers covered now.

Dang! 3:06am! Need to get to bed.

I've got a year and a half old phone. HTC Incredible. It still works fine. Granted, it was top of the line when I bought it. 1 ghz isn't bad.

I'm sure you'll be extremely happy with the P40. A buddy of mine is selling me his T9 next week and using the money to buy himself a K40. I do love these Kahrs! Let us know how the range goes.

                  congrats on the p40

my gun did not come with a flush mount on either the 6 or the 7 rnd mag.

we need Jfootin's post of the sarg saying we need pix.

Want to know about that porting when you get a chance.
FWIW it took my p 40 took a lot of rnds to break in and the recoil spring/rod was a beoch to put back in.

wait is this gun "new" as in used?

New to me... bought 10kahrs P40. He says he's only fired about 100 rounds, so I'll still be breaking it in... probably 250 rounds or so today... IF I get going soon! Still have to make a target and get my tripod, etc. together with the range gear.

I just took a bunch of photos and cropped them quickly... sized from about 150KB to 600KB and I'm uploading them to Photobucket now. I'll post the album link for now... don't want to sit here all day... want to shoot my new toy and video the flashes!

One of the photos on PB:

I put the PDX1 165-gr round between my Short-Barrel Gold Dots in 9mm and .45acp. The SB .40 only comes in 180-gr, so far. If they make a 165-gr version, I'll try that.
I have five 50-round boxes of Speer 165-gr Gold Dots on the way from Kyle's Gun Shop for CCW ammo.

I include the PM9 for comparison, especially with the CrossBreed MiniTuck horsehide holster that I got for the PM9.

                    Photobucket album:

                    http://s1134.photobucket.com/albums/...agna%20Ported/

Got to eat and try to get to the range!

                      Hey Wynn!

Best of luck with the new "fo-tay". I predict that you are going to like it a lot.

Promise me you won't be too disappointed if it doesn't breath fire. People often tell me to expect that with my PM40.

But, I haven't seen any signs of a dragon yet. Yes . . . YMMV

Dang! Just got home and what's sitting at the front door?? My Gold Dots!!

It will be a while before I can post any pix. Got to cook supper and feed my Baby... the human one.

Expended around 250 rounds with some problems, but nothing's sore and didn't use a glove! Put a lot of holes in paper plates and cardboard. I hope the video is good.

                        Later!
