  • Pass me the Kool Aid please

Ok, I know I am not alone here when it comes to this, but for me to take a sip of the kool aid (shot a buddys Glock) and go out the next day and buy one was way out of my norm!

What took me so long to see in the dark? What a great shooting gun. Feels good in the hand, I will now take back all the bad things I said that I thought I knew.

Say hello to my new Gen4 19...... let the flames begin!!

Can't help but think of Mr. Potato Head where you can change this and that. Kind of like AR's and 10-22's.

They shoot well but NOBODY will honestly tell you"Wow, that's a beautiful gun!" If they do they are liars.

        I agree, downtownv.

I wouldn't part with mine, but I don't like ogling it the way I do a Kahr or a Hi-Power. To me, a Glock is a tool. For me, that tool's purpose is to be my primary personal defense weapon when the sky starts falling because I know I can count on it to go bang every time I pull the trigger.

One of my bestest guns is a G23. I like plain but reliably functional, low maintenance women as well.

                I like my gen 3 G27.
                But instead of six back-straps?
                I've got six barrels LOL!

Don't hate me because I want a G34 for IDPA.

Try out and M&P Pro for the IDPA, I compared the two, I liked the M&P much better, the trigger is great. The front fiber optic sight is pretty nice too. Accuracy is good too. Seems to get even better as it gets more rounds through it.

Still trying to find a reasonable deal on a Gen2 model 17/19...

Hate the finger grooves. Glocks are ok, but not ergo correct for my hand/wrist as the good Lord made me. When I shoot one I have to cant my wrist or I shoot high and right. I'll get one to play with, (and for the wife/kids to shoot) but my SD will still be my Kahrs.

If you hear of a gen 2 17 or 19 for sale at fair price (not 2000 rounds shot without cleaning and priced as new...) holler!

                      Enjoy your Kool Aid...
I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
                      "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?
                      "more stuff than you are"
                      God Bless our Troups!

                        A couple of questions...

                        Did you buy it new?
Did the instructions state that you needed to give it a 200 rd. break in?
Did you "rack" the slide 500 times before your initial range session?
Did you find that you had to modify the mag followers to get it to run 100%?
Have any of the mags split yet?

                        Just curious...

                        Good choice, enjoy your Glock.

Great choice. I do use a SIRT trainer that is based on a Glock 19 frame. The Glocks I have shot fit me well and if I see a G19 at a reasonable price I will buy it. The last one I spent some time with was a .357 and it was one fun gun to shoot.

BTW JimC, as a RSO and instructor I see hundreds of small pistol issues every month. 90% are from brand new guns usually bought the same day the shooter walks in our door. Kahrs have no franchise on feeding/ammo issues and actually may be better than most. Racking the slide a lot before firing makes total sense, whether it be on a PM9, or a $2500 Les Baer, both manufacturers recommend it. I do it with every new gun a customer brings to me that "won't work". I also load my magazines and let them sit for a couple of days before I put them into service. Any follower mods I have made to my Kahr have been for my benefit. I wanted to be able to manually close the slide quietly and slowly. Kahr obviously wants their customers to use the slide lock, I choose otherwise, that is my choice. Small guns can be more problematic than their larger brothers. Understand that fact or carry a revolver.

                            340pd,

I have over 35 years experience as an LE firearms instructor. I have never seen any pistol by any manufacturer exhibit the problems that Kahr pistols and their magazines seem to.

You mention Les Baer. Well, I have a well used Ed Brown Kobra Carry (5,000+ rds.) that I bought new in '04. It has a current MSRP of $2,750...it did not need 200 rds. initially to be 100% reliable, it was so right out of the case, they don't come in boxes.

I understand completely about small pistols being problematic, thanks but I don't need to be told to understand that or carry a revolver.

BTW, after one of my last HR218 quals, one of the range officers came up to me and said, "WOW, a Kahr that actually works!"

Glocks are ok. I don't find them ugly, any more than a power tool is ugly; it just is. They shoot ok, but to each his own. If you shoot well with it, you're all set.

Just not my cup o' tea.
