Old feller a few doors down from us passed away a couple years ago - he flew a light spotter plane in the Vietnam War. Must've taken cojones the size of basketballs to do that.

    RIP John.

It certainly does. They train at Pensacola just like the rest of us and they fly the same aircraft. They are also carrier trained and Marine Squadrons cycle on and off carriers. There are usually one or two Marine Aviators in the Blue Angels.

There was a story going around when I was in Southeast Asia about a North Vietnamese pilot that claimed he had been shot down by a US AF, Navy, and Marine jet. He said he hoped the US Coast Guard didn't also fly F-4's.

Thanks for the photos, Cato. You know, I really envy those guys with their F-8's. I drove the F-4B and F-4J, but I always wished that I had chosen the F-8. As you probably know it was called the 'last gunfighter', and I would have loved to have those four Mk12's. The Navy versions of the F-4 never had a gun, and there were times when one would have come in handy. They could also carry four AIM 9's, and believe me, I would have traded my four AIM 7's for the four 20's any day. The Sparrows never worked as advertised anyway. The F-8 wasn't as powerful, but it had another thing that we needed against the 17, 19, and 21, agility. Plus I could have ditched the GIB, and that would be a big bonus.

Now what do you need concerning your PM9. I've had seven Kahrs over the years and still have a PM9, MK40, and CW45. I've never had any problems with any of them, but if I can't help, someone else can.
