One more 3-shot sequence then a few other stills.

I guess that there wasn't much flash from the 10/22 but the Stingers did have flash with it. In the pistol there's a lot of flash because the powder is still burning.

This was my nephew's first time at a range to shoot pistols. He preferred the MK3 to the Gen 4 Glock 19... wasn't used to the RECOIL, especially the first shot or two!

That was fine with me... letting him burn up the cheaper ammo while I shot the G19.

He was on terminal leave... getting out of the Air Force after one hitch... he's enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach to further his AP education on the G.I. Bill. He was a crew chief at Hurlburt Field working on AC-130's.

Congrats on your Ruger . I got the bug and bought the same gun a couple months ago and I took it out 1 time and shot a total of 30 rounds through it and put it up for sale. There was nothing at all wrong with the pistol it was accurate and functioned fine I just did not care for it because I have been spoiled for 40 years shooting my Smith & Wesson 5 1/2" heavy barrel model 41.. I don't regret the sale at all because I used that money to buy my first Kahr a CW45.

Congrats on the CW45. I have the PM45 and one day might get a P45 DLC and put some night sights on it. I started out with the PM9 in polymer Kahrs and now prefer the P-sized ones. I have the P9 and P40. The latter is my favorite now... mag-na-ported and with Big Dot FS and Trijicon 2-dot rear night sights. I really like the size of the P-models, which is the size of your CW45.

I like the Ruger MK 3 22/45 Lite with the threaded barrel. I put the Majestic 3.2 trigger kit in it and it's a terrific pistol... great trigger, with no magazine safety and nice magazine ejection now.

My Kahrs are the only ones that I did nothing to the triggers... just a 5-lb striker spring in all of them.

I put a trigger kit in the 10/22 and my Benjamin Trail NP .22 pellet Rifle... great improvements. The stock triggers were horrible!

I was really into revolvers and had a lot of Smiths back in the 70's and early 80's. I sold my last one... a beautiful SS 629 with a 6" barrel and a terrific trigger around 1998. I didn't shoot it anymore and wanted the money for other things.

I still have several Smiths and shoot them often, I have backed away from the heavy mags and tend to shoot 44 Specials through my 44 mags and 38's through the 357's.
I knew that the things that I didn't care for on the 22/45 lite could be changed but I didn't want to put any more money into it. I'm glad yours is working out for you.

            Best Regards,
            Terry

After coming here from Texas and getting my CWP in '97, I've switched to lighter pistols... polymer Kahrs for CCW... and some Glocks for heavier capability and capacity.

I used to shoot .44 specials through my 629, too, didn't need all of the drama to punch holes in paper targets. I have 9mm's, .40's and .45's now... Kahrs and Glocks, plus my little buddy the P380.

That MK 3 Lite was my choice over the steel model... much lighter, even with the compensator and Bushnell Red Dot.

I got a lot of stuff to help Wifey get used to autos. She had to stay qualified with the S&W .38 in the USAF... that and the 870 Remington 12-ga over in the command post in Germany. She thinks most of my autos are too hard to rack. She could barely rack my G23C, so I got her a G19. The only thing that she's fired in a long time is my PM45 and her brothers compact 1911 a few years ago. I think that she preferred his over mine.

Nothing compares to a Smith 41. Mine makes me look good even on bad days. Hell of a nice gun. I'd like the short top end to hang on mine for variety but I love it with the longer barrel too.

I finally got an agreement with my wife to give me some time to show her how to use the Glock 19. I asked for an hour and doubt that we spent 20 minutes. I let her load snap caps into the mags using a Mag UPLULA and then practice loading and racking the pistol. Then a little practice with the LaseLyte 9mm cartridge and the LaserLyte Reaction targets. As I said, we spent maybe 20 minutes before she was ready to quit.

We went to the range the next day where we started her with the G19 and the Tactical Solutions TSG-22 installed. She got to experience malfunctions with that.

Then I let her shoot the Ruger MK III 22/45 Lite with the Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot sight and the TANDEMKROSS Compensator installed. She really liked that one best.

Her least favorite was the G19 in 9mm. Her grip is really weak and recoil causes the pistol to almost rotate 90 degrees... not good, especially for followup shots.

I tried to explain the isosceles, two-handed grip, but she wanted to relax let her arms bend at the elbow... and her wrists. It will take some more work, but at least she has finally shot some of the pistols and used some of the training aids that I bought for this the last few years.

Just a few pictures of her shooting... stills from video that I took. I only caught a few good flashes and couldn't see any of the projectiles going downrange.

I have a 4-frame sequence of her very first shot with the 9mm. That was a surprise to her after all of the .22LR.

The 5th is the best flash I caught.

The a few frames of her shooting the Ruger... her favorite for the day.

She's certainly not "qualified" on the Glock 19, yet!

She "gets tired" quickly and wants to rest her arms. <sigh>
