  • Unicorn Gun

Clearly, for me, the non-existent Kahr MK45 Elite.
But if we stick to guns that actually exist.
But not necessarily still in production.
What is the gun you most want to add to the personal arsenal that remains elusive?

For me, it's the Iconic Heckler and Koch Stainless USP Match 45.

Dragunov, Russian only, in military configuration. No good reason for it as I own more accurate rifles in that class, but I just want one.

The Army's M1918 was a favorite of gangster Clyde Barrow,
who obtained his examples through periodic robberies of Army National Guard armories in the Midwest.
Barrow liked to use armor-piercing (AP) .30-06 ammunition he obtained from armory stores,
and frequently modified his BARs to suit his own needs.[30]
Barrow taught his 90-lb. girlfriend Bonnie Parker to fire the M1918 as well,
and by all accounts the latter was an excellent BAR operator.
Parker used a M1918 on full-automatic to pin down unsuspecting law officers
after the latter confronted the gang at a house in Joplin, Missouri.[30]
A Missouri highway patrolman at the scene,
forced to dive for cover behind a substantial oak tree after Bonnie Parker opened up on him,
would later state: "That little red-headed woman filled my face with splinters
on the other side of that tree with one of those damned guns!".

In a similar light, the HK USP Elite in 9mm.

There are a half dozen or so guns that I'm always in the hunt for. After many years of watching and waiting I was able to find one of my "unicorns" several years ago, the Walther TPH in .25acp. When they do appear they are priced as gold. Found a nice one for a very decent price.

I'd also love to have one of the last HK P7 PSPs made in 1998, (code date is my initials)*. I've never seen one for sale. I expect it would be above $2K.

1911s don't generally light my fire, but I'd love to have a Seecamp modified 1911. What a neat collectable.

The hunt is sometimes as good as the kill.

            * I have only two guns with my initials, my HK USPc and a Sig P230 in .32acp. The more the merrier.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

Actually.....nothing. Don't know if that be good or bad, but....nothing. The only couple I want can be had for a price.

I would certainly jump on a MK45 ... if I knew it was properly designed and 99.999% reliable.

If we are talking new production, just hit the lotto, money nooooo object, then it's the Heinie Nighthawk custom 10mm Longslide.

If your talking about the long-sought gun of your youth... well that would be the AMT Javelina 10mm, Hunter model.

Wait... is there a theme here?

My kick stand just flipped out and my britches are sticking out in front.

Always had a special place for long slides in my heart, never owned one, held a few, wanted them all. Nothing new here.

I had a buddy (TechSGT) and he had a Hardball Longslide in 45acp. That was the balkiest, jam-happy 1911 I ever shot. Blood thirsty too, hammer bit every other person that ever shot it except me. At the range it was often passed to me as I could keep it shooting, most days.
                      I Loved it.
Billy told me that I could take it to the range on one sunny summer day, but I'd have to bring it back cleaned (no big deal). I had 200 rounds of "war surplus" Vietnam era mil ball. I had the old girl lubed right and had the most perfect day of shooting ever. Later I took that Longslide all the way down, cleaned it perfect and returned it proudly to it's owner.
It looked so good, he sold it!
The only time I have fired the 10mm was a single mag full at the 50yrd Gong through a borrowed gun. Hit 6 out of 8 times that day and have wanted one ever since.
NOT a carry gun except in a shoulder holster and even that way would be tough.
But still, we all have that one style of firearm that brings on the smile every time, practical or not. Figure that's what this thread was all about.

I've always had a thing for long slides too.
I know it's technically not a long slide, but it's close enough for me.

                          My MK40 has been flawless.
Although 3.0" 45s are notorious for being unreliable.
                          I'd be happy with a 3.5" MK45 covert model.
Or even a 4.0" K40 Elite will work - if that's what it takes for 100% reliable function.

My 3.3 inch XDs is sweet. Mine has been flawless. Shoots dead straight too and the fiber optic sights and trigger are good. Very compact.

If I ever see a CM45 Kahr I may have to do something with that too.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I picked this one up a couple of years ago. I too just liked the look of the long slide, and hadn't seen anyone have one in person. I'm a fan of case hardening also.
