  • First review on recalled XDS

Looks promising, but time will tell. Hoping to get mine back within the next week or two.

      First review on recalled XDS

I think the guy who wrote this is on the SA payroll.

"Suffice it to say that this little bump in the road for the sake of safety is not going to derail the XD-S as the leader of the pack in concealed carry. If you can get beg, borrow or rent one, try an XD-S for yourself. Unless you want something really tiny and that is all that will do, there is no better concealed carry pistol on the market."

Really? The leader of the pack in concealed carry? The best on the market? Ahh, someone is trying pretty hard to make it seems as though this is the best gun ever when it's owners haven't even got them back from a serious safety recall, not an "upgrade". Puh-leez.

If you compare the two frames you'll notice the frame on the top looks like it has a piece covering what appears to be a newly designed hammer with a step cut into it. The frame on the bottom has neither. That has me wondering if that particular piece has anything to do with the roll pin in the grip safety.

some guys on the xdtalk forum are scheduled to get theirs back tomorrow. I'm anxious to hear their thoughts after they shoot them. When did you send yours in?

Mine landed there on the morning Sept 3rd. just before 10am. I do not know however when it was actually entered into there system. I'm guessing that's the date that really counts. 7000 pistols were supposed to have landed there on Sept 3rd. so if mine just happened to be on the bottom of that pile it could be a week or so before I'll hear anything. If I hear anything I'll post it, but so far it's just saying it's entered in there system.

That piece is part of the grip safety (as found on the pre recall XD-S), so I think the lower frame is the "Upgraded" one.

                hammer?

XDs is striker .... no hammer.

I believe the "square part" is the disconnect, which is one of the upgraded parts

yep .... I understand. If it weren't for my morning coffee (and "morning" can run from get-up time til noon), I wouldn't be able to function.

Incidentally, my "status" on the SA recall site did show "gun fixed" as of Friday the 18th. It was in the batch received by SA on the morning of 09/03. I don't remember for sure what their "log in" date was, so not sure where I am in the actual return sequence. Since they show it as "fixed", I'm guessing it will show up as "shipped" later today, or tomorrow.

I'm not sitting on pins and needles anyway over it. Never had the chance to shoot it enough to consider ordering a carry holster, and wasn't "needing" another carry gun when I bought it.

It does look like the sear and grip safety have been redesigned.
Unless it's some type of optical illusion, it also looks like a tab of some sort has been added to the equation.

I feel the same way. I'd like to have it back but not stressed out about it.
The last two weeks I've been CC my CZ82 a lot. Pretty nice little inexpensive CC pistol in it's own right.

Darn talk about preferential treatment... mine got there on the same date (7:38AM), but is still showing as "Your Gun has been Received"

naahhh .... probably not better looking, although we do have the same facial hair style and color.

my guess is that they let the 09/03 pile of guns stack up pretty high before they started "logging them in" from the top of that pile.

Mine has the same status. It arrived on the same day, but at 9:58 CT. Mine may be away a while longer then.

I missed the XDS .45 enough that I over compensated and ended up getting a CW40 and then a G30S. The CW40 is as easy to carry as the CW9, but has more bark when you pull the trigger. I consider both models the perfect size single stack for iwb carry. Got the G30S because I had been wanting one since it was announced at the shot show this year and I had finally found one locally. It really is a treat to be able to carry 10+1 .45 in this size of package and when loaded is only 4oz more than the xds45 with it's 5+1.

At this point I am not sure if the xds will get as much carry time when it returns as it did before it left. We'll see.
