  • Twisted Ondustries LC9-22

My only real plinker is my 22 conversion for my lc9. It's as reliable as any 22 pistol I've shot. Unfortunately I bought it a week before Sandy Hook and 22 ammo is still in short supply. Used to buy 500 bricks for 15.99. This is pretty much my only motivation for not selling the lc9 though.

    • Never seen one of those. Didn't know they existed.

Nice set up since it runs well.

      • I'd have kept my lc9 if I'd have known about a 22 conversion. That's cool!

          Here's a 948, offshoot of the 1934 design.
Those are sweet! The 70S is steel frame, correct? Many of the 948s I've seen don't have nearly as nice finish on the frame as yours. How does the 948 perform for you? I might want to pick one up
I do have a 75 and 101. Don't see many down this way...mostly Neos now.

They even sell a threaded barrel for a reasonable price so I'll probably buy a silencer for it. Funny thing is the trigger is not so terrible with it compared to the 9mm slide. I think it has to do with the lack of a firing pin block.

Thanks for sharing the Twisted Industries conversion. I like reading that it's worked well for you. I've thought about getting one for my P11, but I find my P11 so hard to shoot accurately that it would probably be a waste of 22 ammo. I keep it around because it's reliable as hell, would do the job at close range, and it probably wouldn't bring much if I did try to move it.
I do have some conversions that I can hit stuff with

              • Other than the 22 conversion, that's the exact reason I keep it around. I could maybe fetch 150 out of it. It is reliable and smooth as butter now so I just couldn't stomach it. I really like that glock conversion. I have a 27 myself that I want one for. Best firearm in my collection. How do you like the conversion?

I have been pleased with it. It's well made. Accuracy is good. It functions well, but needs cleaning at about 200 rounds. When it was new, the position of the top/first round in the magazine was critical, but it's not fussy about that anymore. The whole package is very light (almost toy like), some may not like this.

                  • That Remington sure looks fine with the 22 conversion on it. Who's set up is that?

The Glock conversions seem to be hit or miss. I've heard some worked well, and others were pretty problematic.

That CZ sings too. Those have been on my radar for awhile too, no doubt planted there by you as usual.

                      Bawanna,
That's an older Kimber conversion. I think is pretty much like their current one except for the finish.

The Glock conversion is an Advantage Arms unit. I think most conversions can be ammo sensitive, find the right ammo and you'll be happy. That can probably said for .22 rimfires in general. Almost every one I own has a preference in ammo; some are more reliable with one brand, some are more accurate with a particular brand.

The only regret you will have about buying a CZ75 is that you didn't do it sooner The Kadet kit is, IMO, one of the best conversions out there. Works well and is all steel.
Did you know there was a variant (CZ 40B) that had a grip angle like the 1911?

                      Regards,
                      Greg

What the heck, since I mentioned 1911, here are a couple of 1911 style plinkers:

                      • Do you have that Llama in 45 too. Seems I was admiring that some time back. Don't recall it being a 22.

I've heard Advantage Arms is supposed to be the best for a Glock. Friend didn't have much luck with his.

I'll have to check out the CZ40B. So many CZ models I can't make up my head which one to wish for.

                        • All this rimfire plinker talk has me thinking dangerous thoughts - I think a 100-round box of CCI .22LR goes for ten bucks or something at the indoor range (I could be way off...), compared to around $35 for two 50-round boxes of 9mm. There are many times I've avoided range trips because $35 could be better spent on other things, but it's not too often that $10 is a hardship. The problem is, blowing a minimum of $250-350 for a .22LR pistol would pay for well over a thousand rounds of 9mm. At some point, there's a break even. I ain't no math whiz, but if I've figured it right, spending let's say $300 for the gun and saving $25 per range visit, it takes 12 range visits of 100 rounds of .22 to break even. After that, I have a dirt cheap pistol that'll keep me somewhat in practice any time the mood strikes me.

                          When's Kahr gonna make a K22?

                            Naw, just the .22 Llama.

Something to remember with the full frame 75/85 variants is that some models have a higher sweep to the beaver tail. It's subtle, but noticeable to the hand. I know the stainless guns and the single action 75 have the higher sweep. There's probably one of those in my future.

                            • I was just perusing the CZ website...................I gotta quit hanging out with you.
I still got a hankering for a 97 single action. I'm not sure I could go back to DA/SA.
I started drooling on the Rami and the compacts, and the 40B before a little light in my head went off and said what the heck are you doing here?

Johnr, I remember getting bricks of 500 22's for 12 to 15 bucks. Sadly those days are long gone I fear.
Starting to see it a bit more but it's still not cheap.

I see a lot more 22 on gunshow tables these days. I guess the hoarders figured out things topped out and are unloading as it were.

I still fondly recall a few years ago a little old lady coming to the front desk and said she had some 22 ammo she wanted to get rid of. I told her we'd take it as we usually do.
She wanted to know if anyone could help her carry it in. I thought how tough is 6 boxes of 22.? Turns out it was 6 500 rd bricks!!!! Oh happy day.
We of course safely dispose of all ammo taken in and of course the safest way to do that is to shoot it in a safe orderly fashion. I of course shared the wealth on that one but still got a bunch for myself.
Be nice to see that again. It was all brand new looking, Winchester as I recall. Must have been kept warm and dry.
