You know I quickly re-read Dr. Freidman and you're right knkali. He has an interesting take on immigration. True to form, he posits that immigration and our borders should be completely free and open. Yet he cautions that it won't work with our current welfare state. Abolish welfare and you eliminate the social/financial burden caused by the inflow of immigrants. I can't fault that argument.

I am not trying to be flippant here. Respectfully, what does worry you when it comes to our G?

I try and not spend a lot of time "worrying" about things that I cannot change or affect directly.
The way this thread subject has drifted is a good example, "worrying" about such stuff will only keep you up at night and shorten your life, jmo.

Now there's a burden. Border patrols trying to keep illegals from coming over here to get illegal work. In Ohio you already have to verify citizenship before completing a new hire. And there are penalties for failure to do so. Is it different in Calif?

Trouble is who does the verifying?

My sister not so long ago had a potential hire apply. She went above and beyond to verify as hiring an illegal meant she went to jail, no questions asked as they worked with explosives. She contacted her insurance person to enquire about his driving record as their insurance cost is quite dependant on employees record. He had no driving record under that name... She contacted more than one govt office to enquire about his legality. The only thing the social security admin would confirm was that the social security number was valid, not that it was valid and issued to that name. Not a single govt office would confirm or deny the legality of this person so she had to deny the applicant.
