18 Year Veteran Cop Killed with his own gun - Upstate NY

I'm sad to report that an 18 year veteran of the Johnson city, NY Police Department was shot and killed with his own gun, after being hit in the head through his open car window by some psycho nut job POS, who then grabbed the dazed officers gun and began his execution. Officer David Smith had a wife and 11 year old son. I think the perp was white

Dunno what you mean. This guy evidently had a mental breakdown and was not a "thug." Its not like he had just robbed a convenience store.

It's not that hard. If the perp was a minority, again he would be labeled a thug. And the "he/she had a mental breakdown" excuse is sad too. Seems by your post that you are in agreement to that argument. What happened in Ferguson was tragic, and the actions of a few bad apples were wrong, and I'm not going into that. But more times than I can remember, minorities have been labeled as thugs, their neighborhoods are ghettos, etc. I do agree with the post though in that COLOR SHOULD NOT MATTER in any crime. When your wrong, your wrong. A guy in West Virginia killed 4 people because his ex slept around on him, and her current boyfriend was taunting him via text messages. I for one don't care what color you are, you kill a good cop, you are a POS in my eyes...

I saw that. What I had the issue was with is the "don't matter what shade the perp is" comment. While I totally agree with that, we all know, and it has been said here that if it was a minority that shot the officer, he would immediately be labled a thug. No one would be making the he obviously had a "mental breakdown" comment. Why is it we as adults just can't have a discussion/debate on something without injecting race or making derogatory comments about someone??? And I will say this, and it has been done here. Some of these threats will go on with this kind of talk until someone starts to fire back, then they are locked or deleted. Again when you are wrong, your wrong, color should not even matter...

It's not hard to see what I am saying here. I'm not speaking/typing a foreign language. When a minority commits an offense, he is automatically labeled a thug, plain and simple. If your point was to take away the race issue, you would have called him a thug as well, and you didn't. You are one of the moderators here, and when some of the posts I responded to got heated, you decided to either delete or lock them. And I noticed above too that you referred to Brown as a thug, and didn't say the same of the cop killer. There are also people that have been banned here because they didn't agree with the status quo.

Sorry, that wasn't my point. It was that as soon as there is a report of a minority committing a crime, he is automatically labeled a thug. Come on you see it here. The thug comments, the ghetto comments, etc. My point was is why can't a conversation be held without these types of comments...And you wonder why things get heated...I'm not saying we are going to agree on everything. I know we are not...

Did Wilson try to shoot the perp because he was black? I don't think so but will never know, I think he shot cause he was enforcing the law and the 300 pound baby who never hurt nobody punched him in the face and didn't want to get out of the middle of the street. If it was a 300 pound albino charging the cop the shot would have been called for and the albino could fairly be classified as a thug.

Ok, here we go....I'm not gonna dispute what happened in Ferguson...What I have the problem with is that the man that shot the cop WAS NOT labeled or called a THUG. He was called a perp, as well he was. And oh he was having "mental breakdown." And we know this how, because a few people said so?? My issue is that ANYTIME a minority is involved, they are labeled a thug, or they live in a ghetto. I DID NOT SAY YOU said it, I said it seems to be an automatic label for some folks. I also said I agree with you on some of your comments...If the word "perp" was used more often, then thats ok. If you say color doesn't matter, then try to quell some of the sterotypical comments here..
