So calling the President a monkey is ok, even though we all know that it has been used as a derogatory term towards blacks??? This is what I am saying here....If I were to use the term "*******" and pardon me for doing so, I would have MULTIPLE commenters here calling me out on it, and I would expect them to. There is no failing in my logic..Its things like calling him a monkey and being ok with it is what's wrong. And again I am not saying that EVERYONE here uses these terms.. The term Welfare Queen was used quite a few times, and when it was it was in reference to a black female. You can go back and read all of my posts, and not one time did I use a term like Trailer Park Trash, *******, Honkey, or anything like that. And again forgive me for saying so now. Main point is he are all human, no matter what color we are. Try to suck it up and have a discussion without the references is all I ask..

swilcher7, I recall political cartoons from about 10 years ago they depicted George W Bush as a monkey. This was in reference to both his perceived intelligence and his ears...
In my opinion, it would be offensive to not use the same term to refer to the current president for similar complaints. I think it's probably apparent that those of us posting here dislike the president because of his policies and actions, not because of the color of his skin. Granted, some may call him a monkey for racist reasons, but there are many other reasons to view him as such.
For the record, I have met MANY white welfare queens.

I can't recall anyone here referring to Bush as a monkey, and I may be wrong. And to refer to his wife as one too. That's uncalled for. If I think it's wrong, I'm gonna speak out, other do so. Hell I don't agree with everything Obama is doing, as well as what Bush did. But I never called him a monkey, and idiot maybe. And we know some here MAY not like him because of his skin color...I don't know how may posters here are minorities, and maybe they just want to go with the flow. You don't have to agree with me, it is what it is. But, I have had many disagreements with folks here, never once did I refer or call anyone out of name...I joined here because this was a firearms form...

Anyone can make anything a race issue. Sticks and stones and name calling and all that.
I have a lot of things I call white folks too, the undesireables that don't want to earn their keep in society.
Mr. Swilcher wants to paint racist and that's very easy to do if that's what one wants to do.
Both the Obama's, I didn't call em Ovomits, don't want to offend should be hung for high treason. The money she alone has spent on her world travels would feed the world for about 10 years.

Never called ANYONE racist.....But you know the old saying "If the shoe fits.." But I guess a minority speaking out on things he sees wrong is him calling someone a racist...I'm sure we ALL have names/terms we use to describe people...Just see them being used more towards one side than the other...

No offense intended here. Not on one side or the other in this 'discussion' about racism.Originally posted by Bawanna View PostI wasn't addressing the title at that time I was addressing him making it a race issue. I was using his words.

It is hard to prove a negative, but you have also not used the term 'thug' in the context of the previous discussions as far as I can determine."Typing the word "grandparents," I mistyped and the autocorrect changed it to CandyLand. Not entirely inaccurate." - Our daughter.

^^^ thanks for the clarification DavidS. JMHO but the Colonel wasn't being literal. He was making a point that it doesn't matter what you call a bad guy....thug, dirtbag, scumsucker, bottomfeeder....
I wonder how many of those will make it through the filter?

I like this quote from Ben Carson, seems applicable.
"You are just focusing on the words Nazi Germany and completely missing the point of what I said," Carson told Blitzer. "And that's the problem right now. That's what 'PCism' is all about. You may not say this word regardless of what your point is because if you say that word, I go into a tizzy."

Maybe because Brown was in fact a thug and the guy who shot the cop was not.Originally posted by swilcher7 View PostNo one called the guy that shot the cop a "thug", It was said the "perp" shot the officer. But Brown was called a thug.
One thing I like about the forum is the absence of thought police (political correctness). I happen to think PC is bigger problem today than actual racism. It forces people to shut up about what they actually think and makes them suspect the reason for the suppression is that they are secretly right. Racism is an error in thinking and you can't stamp it out by forcing people to suppress what they think.
Institutional racism, in the form of reverse discrimination (affirmative action), has actually made the problem worse imo. People who see others get legal advantages because of their skin color naturally resent it. On the other hand if left alone, racism tends to be a self correcting error because people who make the mistake are at a disadvantage to those who don't.
So, down with political correctness. If you disagree with someone, say so and say why rather than insisting they are not allowed to speak. And don't be so @#$%^& sensitive. My wife, a teacher, once got grief from other teachers for telling her students to stop acting like a bunch of monkeys. Ridiculous.
Back to guns.Rest in peace Muggsy
