    Thank you

I can actually almost agree with that statement. You have redeemed yourself.

Sadly most people in this world are sheep and follow whatever is the latest trend in thinking. At least 80% I would guess at all levels of education. Then there are real experts out there that really know about one thing, but people then think that makes the expert at everything. I had this neighbor one time that was a Dr. and university professor and lead researcher in hearing loss. He was a great guy and a genius in his field but his wife would tell you he didn't know to come in out of the rain or have the reasoning to tell fact from fantasy.

A little wisdom and some reasoning abilities go a LONG way. And as a compliment to most of the good folks here on kahrtalk, once you get past some of our glaring personalities most of us are pretty sharp. Remember at one time people thought man would never fly. I'm also old enough to remember the experts saying in the past that we would be colonizing the moon and traveled to mars by now.

I also remember the years after Mt. Pinitubo erupted in the Philippines and the impact it had on weather in the USA. Nobody talks about that connection to the climate. We are one big event away from one way or the other. Who knows???

There is a strong statistical correlation between solar activity/storms/flares and the earth's temperature. Mankind is not in control of that.

None of this is to say that we should not conserve, use our resources wisely, and explore PRACTICAL alternatives. But none of that is the climate change lobbies real agenda.

I know an extremely schooled fellow who's one of the best molecular oncologists in the country. His research is heralded. He's pursued for surgical consultation every day. He is the guy who may save your life or a loved one's life from a complicated, metastasized tumor. He really is the real deal.

But when it comes to other stuff, he's much less functional. His wife, bless her heart, feeds and dresses him. The guy's annoying to be around in group settings because he tries too hard to be liked. His politics shift like the sands. He pays others to do even the simplest of life's chores.

In other words, he's the guy you go to for advice about cancer, but not for help changing oil.

In that light, many of us would be wise to give climatologists more credit instead of letting pundits and politicians shoot those messengers.

I hear folks use language like "warmists" as if there was some secret lab-coated, euro cabal exchanging secret gloved handshakes and beakers of secret chemical plans to enslave freedom-loving 'Mericans. In truth, they're a bunch of science geeks who have been studying the dynamic complexities of macrobiology all their lives and thus know as much about climate factors as a master mechanic knows about small-block Chevys.

They're wrong sometimes, just as the weatherman is. But that doesn't make weathermen co-conspirators to keep us all inside.

Though, given the midwest's very cold temps this week, I may be wrong about that last point...

Heard this definition of a specialist a long time ago..
A specialist is a man who knows more and more about less and less.

That's about right. The corollary is that a generalist knows less and less about more and more.

You need both for complex problem-solving.

Links to verifiable and credible proof please? Virtually all legitimate scientist ignore any and all deviations of less than centuries in duration climatologically. What happens over a 100 year period or so is so intrinsically miniscule as to be statistically insignificant. Several world renowned meteorologist/climatologists I know personally look at 100 year deflections as proving nothing as that is like determining a persons lifetime diabetic risk by what they ate for breakfast today ignoring all other facts and observations. The sampling period is so short as to be meaningless.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I could use a little global warming about now. The forecast for Thursday calls for sub zero temperatures and a wind chill of -27 degrees.

That's a fair request and I'll try to get time for it after work tomorrow. Sometimes having a vehicle that's great in the snow is a curse - when other coworkers get stuck at home and leave you to pick up the slack [emoji17].
