Texas refineries get to refine it (they are running at only 87% last I heard) which creates tax revenue for the Lone Star State & the federal government.

Plus, the government & the media aren't telling you how a lot of the North Dakota Bakken light sweet crude will be pumped into the Keystone pipeline to thin out the heavy Canadian tar sand crude to enable it to flow easier.

Some electric car builders are keeping their heads barely above water most are not. Until they can get batteries to run the vehicle at highway speed for 500+ miles between charges I and the vast majority of folks are not interested. Look at how the stock market is not in love with the companies by how their stock is treated. Ethanol is a rip-off as it takes more energy to create a gallon of it that you get out of it.
Don't worry LZ we have enough coal and oil to out live you great grandchildren and more is being discovered every year. More coal andoil is being created as we speak. It's a continuous process. We've barley tap what's under the sea.

Coal is a pretty nasty business. It releases radiation if you clean it and is a continual source of drinking water pollution.

How about the harm the sun is doing the planet? Radiation (gama rays, infrared rays, ultraviolet rays not to mention global warming at it's worst.) I say "PUT OUT THE FIRE" before it's too late!

Such intelligent and thoughtful responses. If you can't see the benefit of solar vs coal then there is no common ground here. Amazing.

Yeah, we're a pretty stupid, ignorant bunch around here................we just can't grasp how green energy is one of the biggest robberies on the American public in years. We want to continue to use that nasty oil, and coal, and nuclear for our energy. Shame on us for not giving two s#!t$ about the future, say 500 years from now, when maybe, everything dries up. Me, I worry about more important things, like, do I have enough ammo.......when can I go shooting..............are the bills paid. Shame on us fools for not realizing the obvious. Let me see, if I want to use solar right now, for my home...............for my energy consumption, I would need panels the size of a football field. If I get an electric car, I have to recharge every 100 miles, if I'm lucky.............If I want a fuel efficient automobile, that I can afford, it will take me 10 minutes to get up to speed on the expressway. These are all great things.........................I'll stick to the way things are now thanks..............I guess that makes me ignorant, but a happy ignorant. Amazing

I am laughing myself silly with this total ignorance of education and understanding of reality. AMAZING! Solar is HYPER INEFFICIENT and NOT COST EFFECTIVE right now. Maybe when the technology matures but now it is research stage only. Decades away from market penetration to be a viable source. Oh yeah battery powered cars are a proven boondoggle with todays technology. Case in point Tesla. Batter powered cars are again research material. Until one has the performance of my Mustang GT with is 350+ HP motor, electric cars are a novelty for the pinky finger extended crowd aka those with too much money and too little common sense.

The gov't is already telling you what kind of light bulbs you can use, and trying to tell you what kind of car to drive. Next, it will be your electric stove, and your washer, and your dryer, and your air conditioner, and your tv set. All of this makes things very expensive. The light bulbs are just the first example. This is supposed to make everyone's life better.................really? I'll be really healthy, living in my tent, with the solar panel on top, which gives me 2 hrs a day of electricity, washing my clothes in the stream, without soap( a pollutant) cooking over a wood fire, unless that's pollution, in which case, you'll have to eat everything raw. Boy , does that sound like a good time. Am I missing something here??????????????

Well it is being reported that Ocracker the Stupid has vetoed the pipeline. Now forces need to be marshaled in the Senate to override the beotches veto. The House has more than enough votes to stomp on the fools neck.

One must consider the extremely toxic methods in manufacturing solar and batteries. Furthermore, the disposal of same has to be considered as well. These technologies are not as green as one would have you believe.

Because he believes that the risks of the pipeline outweigh its value? I'd call that adifference of perspective, not reason to call someone un-American. Unless, that is, you define America only by your personal terms.

The dream and reality of renewables aren't the same right now. But they're headed towards each other. My long-term investment portfolio has both conventional and renewable energy stocks, as should America's interests.
