Thank you for this. I didn't want to be the one to say it and possibly get stomped on.Originally posted by tv_racin_fan View PostAll I know is the states have been passing bills and having them signed into law which are giving back the 2nd amendment little by little.
Wasn't that long ago that most states were may issue and only one state was a constitutional carry state. Now nearly all the states are shall issue three are considered constitutional carry with more states having constitutional carry bills going thru their legislature. Currently only one state has no provision for carry. Most of this has come about since my son was born in 1987 which is somewhat ironic since 1986 saw an update to the NFA whereby only those full auto firearms built and registered pre some date in 1986 are legal for "normal" citizens to own.
I need to check what happened in my state this session as there was a bill going around to allow silencers for hunting.
Effective July 22, 2011, Washington State residents can now USE a silencer (before that it was legal to OWN one, and even to have it mounted on a gun, but not to actually USE it). See HB 1016.
I bought an AR-15 recently, and it has several features on it that would have made it illegal a decade ago.
Anyway, back to what to do with your guns if they're banned. Here's a thought:

My favorite setup of his was one of his commercials for the Overton Window. Using a very strange poem. Then he read all the lefty loons commenting on what terrible writing it was and how it made no sense. He let it go on for a while before revealing it was from Rudyard Kipling. too funny, the liberal "educated elites" were just too stupid. I doubt they even get it today.Originally posted by les strat View PostThis is true. It seems like the more the feds push anit-gun, the more the states have pushed back with loosening ownership/carry rights. It's hard for the feds to argue when statistics show gun sales are at an all-time high, and violence is dropping yearly.
Yesterday, Glenn Beck started off his show talking about shootings at colleges, ranting about how their is a direct correlation between college education and violence... something has to be done. College students or graduates turn into killers (Dahmer, Zimmerman, this guy at Christian college, etc). Maybe colleges need to be closed down. Meanwhile, emails started pouring in saying, "Glenn, do you know how many millions of college educated people there are for every one that goes off the edge?" He said, "EXACTLY!" and bridged straight into there being MILLIONS of gun owners for every one that commits a violent crime, yet libs want to ban guns for everyone because the misuse of one or a few loons.

"What will you do if you have to turn in your guns?"
We should keep in mind that such a thing would never come upon us suddenly one day. High-impact changes like that are never abrupt.
Without a doubt, if the day ever came, it would have been at the end of a series of many smaller steps. Rather like the proverbial frog sitting in the water pot that slowly gets hotter and hotter, until it's too late. A additional permit here, a new minor restriction there, sunsetting of a previously-legal thing, new limitations on calibers, etc - that is the deadly path.
Why?
Because of the way human nature works.
People who might fight tooth and nail against a big change often let the small changes happen because no one of them is big enough to justify a big fight, but when added up, the end result is still achieved. This is the "slippery slope." Sometimes, though, it can be reversed - as we have witnessed in the end of the Clinton-era bans on high-cap magazines, and by the increasing number of states allowing citizens to carry, to name two.

True, but with the homeland security measures put into law in recent years, a national emergency is all it will take. The POTUS will declare marial law and the order will go out. They will pull out the database that by law isn't supposed to exist at ATF and start entering homes by force. The government has plans in place to deal with resistors, even huge numbers of them. They have the human cattle cars. They have the detention camps. And the thing about it is that the needed "national emergency" will happen when and how they want it to. It won't be a surprise at all to them.Very interesting...

I agree with JFootin.
Look what happened during Katrina!! Most of those folks still haven't gotten their guns back. Also, just a few weeks ago Obama changed the rules so that he can declare marshall law whenever he wants!!!!!
Today's world makes me nervous, and I guess that is good.

I wonder if them stainless steel bowls Wyn got to protect his safe dial from EMP's would be as effective as my tin foil hat?
When the come they most likely won't need cattle cars or detention camps as most will be dead.
Course this doesn't apply to me since that horrible boating accident.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson (1764).

I don't trust the Feds with anything --- and that includes their ability to carry out any operation effectively and efficiently. Thus I'm not terribly worried about the scenario you described, unless they have been sandbagging us for 236 years just so they can surprise us in this particular case.Originally posted by JFootin View PostTrue, but with the homeland security measures put into law in recent years, a national emergency is all it will take.
