People can laugh at "preppers"... some of their worries are pretty remote, and even laughable... but a lot of people are waiting until the Four Horsemen are at the door... or whatever their particular worst fear is!
The Boy Scout motto comes to mind... and is more appropriate than the three monkeys blocking their eyes, ears, and mouths... or the fabled ostrich sticking its head into a hole in the ground to avoid "unpleasantness" as a dingo sizes him up for lunch!
Having enough ammo for regular practice... and more importantly... enough to weather immediate shortages... is a smart thing to do... and a VIRTUE... NOT a SIN! If you don't plan and prepare to meet the needs of you and your family, whose fault is that??
I converted a lot of our meager savings to ammo and gun supplies. I wish that I had made up my mind about THREE months ago to buy a .308 NATO-type semi-auto and built up a supply of reliable magazines and ammunition for the long haul. I can't afford the "cheapest" one now, and certainly not the scarcity and prices for mags and ammo! I'll have to be content with my Ruger 10/22 and the mags and ammo that I bought over a year ago... one of my small "prepper" concessions.
It isn't the "hoarders'" fault that things have happened, but a populace who has awakened finally, to the fact that hard times are ahead and things will get more difficult if not impossible to get... especially in things needed to defend themselves and their families... let alone go to the range for recreation very often!
JMHO!
