Seems as if some ammo is trickling in again except for 22 lr. Even Walmart's are getting some in with a 3 box per day purchase limit as they had a few years ago. This is the time factories should be running 22 lr. as spring is coming and demand will go up but who knows. Good job to everyone who stocked up 22 lr early.

I agree w/ wyntrout. Blaming the buyers right now is not fair, you are just as free and had just as much information as they did. I didn't see it coming as fast as it did and didn't respond as quickly as others, but I was at least early _enough_ to make some decent decisions. It's been particularly bad since the 1st of the year. I'd still like to have more 9mm and more 22lr.

Gun prices are coming down, if you haven't noticed.

That being said, I see nothing but a silver lining here.

      1. Tons of guns and ammo in the hands of the general population. Whether you are a gun advocate or a gun control proponent, the situation has made a VERY loud statement.

      2. Regarding the prices. Capitalism is alive and well and working as it should. Supply and demand will eventually correct it, but supply was finally back from earlier events in years past...government created a demand, the market responded.

      3. Lots and lots of new gun owners. That's a good thing.

Want to blame someone, blame the government and the liberal media for creating a firestorm that resulted in this. But stop blaming the people who are buying out of legitimate concern over future availability or prices. As to the price 'gouging' going on right now, you can be mad at them if you like, but it's how it works. Thank goodness for that. The only other option would be government controlled pricing on ammo. Good idea? No way in hell.

I'll also add, sometimes you just have to bite-the-bullet (pun intended) and buy SOME at the insane price 'just in case'. Am I confident that the market will correct this and prices and supply will return, YES. Am I 100% certain, NO. Therefore, I will probably suck it up and pay double or triple for some 22lr to add to my buffer before this is all over with.

        Just sayin'.

My standard supply is 750-1000 rounds each of 9mm, 45ACP, 357Mag. 223/5.56. I like to have 5000+ rounds 22LR on hand at all times. I would shoot a box or two and then replace it with new. That way my ammo supply gets rotated.

I have not been shooting for over 60 days now since I cannot resupply. My LGS rep said the ammo situation will hopefully subside in 4-6 months. He said the gun situation is going to take at least a year for the manufacturers to catch up with the backlog they had even before the current panic.

I remember 6-box limits... and I would buy six whenever I went to the store. They HAD ammo most of the time then. Now you have to be there at the right time to find anything on the shelves. Even with a 3-box limit, it goes quickly. My last purchase was 3 boxes of the Federal Champion Value Pack 100 .45 FMJ... I felt pretty good and there were still 3-4 more boxes, at least, left. I do look every time I go to a Walmart, and once in a while there's something I can use.

I went to the range yesterday to shoot my new G23C and try out all of my .40 ammo, including my 180-gr Bonded Remington Golden Sabers for my .40's.

I fired 257 rounds in the G23C and 6+1+7 in my ported P40 for functionality in my carry mags... absolutely NO PROBLEMS with either pistol... flawless with all 12 mags for my new Glock.

I did avail myself of the one-box per RANGE CUSTOMER limit and shot a box of AAA TCJ 180-gr FMJ. Nice stuff for $16+tax a box, and it saves some of my range ammo supply.

When I get a chance, I'll do a range report with stills of the flashes and targets. I had quite the time! The last two mags were fired at an unused full-sized shihouette target that someone had left behind. Rapid-fire, I unloaded a 13-round mag at each of C.O.M. and the head rectangles. Yee Ha!!

I haven't pulled a trigger since AUGUST! I haven't bought ammo at a store in years, the only thing I'm uncomfortably low on but not completely out of is 22.

I got 14 rounds of Blazer 22 I'd trade for a tuna fish sandwich.

I just purchased 500 rounds of Speer Lawman 9mm from SG Ammo. It cost me $180 shipped. It was hard to do, but that is as inexpensive as I've seen. Hoping to see $.24 9mm FMJ again soon.

It's getting to TOTALLY STUPID level when you can't even buy shotgun shells at Walmart. Guy I work with shoots cowboy action and he can find ZERO shotgun shells at any of the local Walmarts. Now he is going to have to invest in reloading shotgun just to keep shooting.
                    Thanks, all you idiot hoarders!

why are hoarders idiots? Would seem to me that they are smart and more perceptive than your friend.

Because they're screwing everything up for everyone else and they act like ammo is going to be outlawed...which it isn't. You can't find magazines, reloading supplies or anything remotely associated with ammo because people think the whole damn world is going to come to an end. I mean give it a rest already! People don't have two pennies to rub together but they can sure find money for cigarettes and tons of hoarded ammo that is going to sit forever...
