Oh yeah, I can have an avatar now. Neat. Luckily I had a flashlight that was tiny enough to fit into the barrel but big enough to not 'fall into it' (so to speak). Fit nicely.

      Consider it done.

There is no telling how much booger was self inflicted. I know I did a bit of it when trying to reassemble the 2nd PM45, which was tight to start with.

The front of the lower part of the frame looks like its been filed or sanded (with heavy grit). Just smooth that out with 400 g paper to make it look pretty if it bothers you. I guess it does bother you.

The rest - your slide rides on metal..... not poly. The poly is there for aid in assembly. Your pistol runs, but shows wear in places where perhaps.... it just needs to wear some, then wear no more.

Kahr poly is the same as everyone uses - its basically Nylon 66, same as Remington used on that famous plastic rifle of the late 60's and early 70's, and the same as everyone else uses. Its tough stuff.

I may sand it down a tad and 'clean it up', but I think I want to wait until I hear back from Kahr.

Either way, I was getting some sand paper tonight because I was going to start to polish the slide a bit as a personal preference. I want it to be shiny like my current carry piece (http://i.imgur.com/s1gL2vC.jpg?1)

I used to have a pm40 and a cw40. The pm had some plastic shaving during the first 100rds, the cw produced shavings off and on for about 500rds. In both pistols the shaving of plastic was done for ever more.

It is only a cosmetic issue and after break in it stops. It appears that the amount of shaving varies from pistol to pistol.

Kahr has had issues with some of their polymer frames in the past. Kahr had to replace the frame on my P380. In doing so the gun has a new serial number and it can only be returned to you through an FFL which entails a background check and transfer fee. If Kahr suggests that you return the gun request a prepaid mailing label. If for some reason they won't give you one send it back through your local FFL to save on shipping costs.

That looks a lot more messy than any of the 4 polymer Kahrs that I have had.

Welcome to Kahrtalk root, While it may be just a cosmetic issue I think yours looks worse than normal to me and I don't think it was from you hand racking the slide either....While the gun may shoot ok if it were mine I wouldn't do anything to either the frame or slide with sandpaper but would have Kahr send you a prepaid label and let them look at it....

Everyone is different but I expect a new expensive pistol to look like it and not like it's been through a torture test...I think something may be out of spec with that frame and would let the Kahr gunsmith look at it and even if they say it's fine and do nothing you will have documented the fact that it had abnormal wear indications when new...

On the flip side they may look at it and say this thing is messed up and send you a new pistol and even if you do have to do another FFL it would be worth it to have the nice new looking pistol you wanted and paid good money for rather that a buggered up ugly duckling that you will keep trying to make look right in your head but can't...

Let us know how this works out for you....I'm interested in what Kahr says about it...

Still no update from them. I figured Monday CS would be out of the office for the Holiday. Was hoping to get an update today. Hopefully tomorrow...

They posted a message on Facebook today that said they had a gas leak in there plant and everything is shut down until Thursday.

With that being said, I have been in contact with them about and issue and it has taken 3-4 days to get a response to each email.

Yikes! That's no good. I suspect they'll be quite busy this and next week, then.

Took my CM9 out and shot it today. A little over 1500 rounds so far and no wear what so ever. Can't really tell it's been shot. I believe you are right to be concerned.

Thanks guys. After sharing this here, and on my local guns forum (http://ingunowners.com/forums/handgu...heavy-use.html) I do believe I expect a replacement to be made now.

I just need Kahr to open back up their operation since they had a gas leak today and for them to get back to me.

Do you think I'll have to send -everything- back? Or just the frame? Either way, I was thinking I'd keep a magazine for the inconvenience and because I am giving them my brand new Talon grips with the frame too, lol!

Someone posted a photo in the other thread of their 1989 Glock 19 who had a great finish internally in it's polymer frame after 25 years and thousands of rounds. I had no idea polymer was so.. strong.

When I see photos of other people's setups and then see mine again, I too know something isn't right.

I hope Kahr fixes it! I'll be very happy and will certainly spread the word on how they corrected an issue.
