  • Your Kahr modifications

I've seen some nice modifications and solutions to little issues like the non-flush magazines and other things, though they're all in different threads and hard to find if you're not for sure what you're looking for. Was hoping this thread can serve as a reference for modifications and where people can just post pictures of their modified Kahrs.

Mine isn't anything special, though I do have some minor updates planned. (Smoothing off the slide stop so it doesn't snag when re-holstering, cerakoting slide flat black and figuring something out to make non-flush mags, flush)

All I've done to mine is stipple it and added a grip extensions to my 6 round magazines which I carry. So these are hardly serious mods, but it's a start. I wasn't for sure originally if I was going to keep my Kahr or not due to some concern regarding the polymer wear, but now that I've passed 200 rounds and approaching 300, I've seen no additional wear and have had zero hiccups with the gun. I'm keeping it now, and I've already ruined it's resell value so might as well adjust it to suit my needs.

Should be noted that the magazine extension doesn't actually sit flush as shown. The magazine was disassembled, only the grip extension was on the base of it at the time. Ideally that's how it'd look when it's assembled, but still have that famous Kahr gap... Though now the magazine base is painted black thanks to a trusty paint marker, so at least it doesn't look too odd.

There's pictures here someplace, but I did modify one PM45 and the PM9 quite a bit.

They both got the same treatment. They both got the sharp front edge of the ejection port rounded, and got the sharp rear edge rounded. They both got the slide stops rounded over in the front and back. And the PM9 got its polymer frame smoothed a little in the back. I wasn't worried about any minor misalignment, but it had a sharp molding crease right in the web area. I got rid of that and followed it up to the rear of the slide so it looked a little better.

      (edit)

Should also add that rounding off of the back of the port scared me a bit. The PM45 is already prone to occasionally kicking an empty into the shooter's head. If anything this rounding off has helped with that situation. Can honestly say I have not gotten one empty back at me since doing that mod. Just thought I'd add that in.

        Simplicity for me...
Nothing other than a bicycle inner tube and some paint on the mag base.
The paint isn't holding up great, but I don't care enough about it to paint another or remove what's left...

Rounded edges of Slide Stop, Fwd edge of Ejection portal, polished barrel. I plan on more mod of Slide Stop Pin maybe rear edge of Ejection portal but experience no problem here.

I did the front edge of the port because they're all sharp! The rear edge was to eliminate snagging, the ejection pattern thing... was an unforseen benefit.

All I have done is change striker spring to wolff RP springs and inner tube for better grip. That's it.

Indiana boy, look up jocko's custom PM9 on this forum. Not sureone can do much jore. Over 32K rounds through it also. loaded weight sin at 18 ounces with powerball. Best pocket gun I have ever owned. it is my 24/7 carry peace. What u did looks super. I highly modified my slide lock lever and the protrusion on the righgt side of the slide lock lever pin, I dremeled and rounded it down flush with thge frame.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Should also mention I got a custom OWB holster made for my CM9. I live in a great state, one that issues lifetime carry licenses, and the licenses don't specify how to carry your gun, so you can open or conceal carry.

Now, I don't actually open carry, at least not out in public. I'll OC around the house or maybe when hiking (but if OCing outdoors I'm packing my 4566TSW). Anyhow, this is a great holster that another fellow Hoosier made for me over on INGO.

Good retention and a super comfortable way to carry. $45 well spent.

That's one good looking stipple job. Most of what i did to mine you can't see. Did a polish job on the barrel, extractor, breech face, striker, basically any metal touching metal parts. It does smooth out all the operations. Even polished inside the striker channel if that's what its called.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.
