I work for a government contractor and I conduct training on technical systems in the field, mostly in the middle east. I was sent to Turkey to train a fella named "Hassan" on a system and was very intrigued by this guy. He is the real deal and I am glad he is on our side. He's a special forces vet and has worked in intelligence for a long time. After a week together we started talking about our EDC and guess what his gun of choice is? a very modified Kahr PM9.
I own a CM40 and am looking to do some of the similar mods. I want to be very sensitive to OPSEC, but he was kind enough to let me snap some pics of his Kahr. Here is his gun:

    What you cant see...
    • TruDot night sights
    • Cobalt Cerakote
    • Polished throat
    • and a very, very buttery trigger

Also his magazines were cerakoted 1/3 of the way up with a very matte black that made the mags almost look polymer. And unlike my Kahr when you hit the mag release his mags popped out of the gun and dropped free, every time. All in all this is my favorite example of a Kahr done right!
Other EDC tidbits that might be of interest - He also carried a Emerson CQC knife, and a Citizen Navihawk A-T watch.
    Enjoy!

    PERFECT...Thanks for sharing!

I don't actually open carry, though I s'pose I could (State law doesn't differentiate between concealed or open carry, my license to carry allows me to choose my method of choice) but I do sometimes OC around the house! This is also a good rig for the range, if not rocking a holster for any of my other pistols.

Custom made by a local, wearing it now around the house.

Do you think the cerakoting is the reason his mags drop free? Mine sure don't. It's been a real drag, because I have a wound on my left thumb. Ordinarily, I'd depress the mag release with my left thumb, which I can't, and rack the slide left-handed. Can't do either. I can't depress the slide release with my left thumb, either. Anything which would let the mag drop out easily would be welcome. It would eliminate one hand change...

I've read the other threads and I'm having a bit of a struggle coming to grips with squeezing the top feed lips. I've already sanded the underside with 600 grit and I've polished the loading ramp to a mirror finish. As a result, no hangs and no FTFs of any sort, including nosedives. With everything performing perfectly except with squeezing the lips in, I'll have to devote more thought before I start crimping the feed lips in...

OK then, if you've read the posts discribing the process you know there's a bulge at the bend, NOT the lips.
And with the pics of people measuring that bulge, it's only a few thousands of an inch.
I used a machinist's vice that is precisely parallel, but a small bench vise will do it, if you understand what's going on, and what needs to be supported during the squeeze.
The mag metal is very brittle from bending/welding have cracked at the weld for some, even without any squeezing
I would suggest NOT using visegrips, or modifying the frame as some have suggested.
I apologize if my post contains the same or similar information as someone who has posted before me.

The magazine bases are probably re-worked polymer bases with the lip removed and the to sanded to the proper height for a good fit to the grip. I prefer just the metal bases myself... can live without the extra grip length.

Great pics and info. What did you use to polish the barrel and flare the ejection port ?

i sent mine to Kahr and they tried to fix the mag drop issue.......and it didn't work.....my local gunsmith said it was the polymer behind the mag release button not allowing the button to be depressed fully, two seconds with a dremel he ground down a bit of the plastic behind the button and it now drops when I want it to.

I didn't like the two tone on my CM9 so after some Ceracote and Trijicon night sights this is what I've got. Also added Talon grips.

I'm inspired by all these mods. So, I spent an hour at the workbench tonight and this is the result. Still have some clean-up to do on the stipple job.
