  • August All Fun Thread / The good stuff goes here.

    Thanks Jfootin for the reminder.

For new folks, stuff that doesn't fit else where usually fits just fine here.

Keep it fun, keep it family/gender appropriate, semi civil.

Leave politics, and all that depressing stuff at the door.

Remember anything unsuitable can and will be removed without warning or fanfare.

    Let the games begin.

Au Contraire Weedhopper. I did it today so as not to take away from the full day of festivities tomorrow.

Let me be the first to wish you the happiest birthday you ever had.

I'd sing for ya but truth be told that would totally suck.

I'd be honored to send ya half gallon but I'll have to hunt around some. Never heard of Chimay Grande Reserve. Hope you got a cellar to acquire the proper temp, can't send one of those.

It's after Midnight here, so Happy Birthday Mr. Surveyor. Even though I don't drink, I'd be happy to buy you a bottle of a good brew. Never heard of that Grand Chiminey stuff, but, sounds expensive, how about a pint of St. Pauli Girl, at least
it has a nice label to look at.

Hey Surv! You must have some political pull!

We used to drink Chimay (but not necessarily Grand Reserve) with friends in the Philadelphia area where we could order it at our favorite restaurant on Dock Street. Sadly, it has been a while since we have hoisted a glass. Chimay does not seem to be as readily available at dinner in "small town" Tucson.

Given your reputation for liking cheap Tequila, I'm surprised the Trappist Monks let any of it go to Texas.
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

                Hey Tuscon

don't forget I'm a home brewer, so I've studied a bit pertaining to the various styles of bier. We can't order CGR here in small town East Texas at the dinner table, but we can get it from a couple of local area "stores".... or special request for the next week. CGR is just my choice for special occassions, which are rare. I do love my (or most anyone else's) IPA's, Porters and Weizens though. Since I had to give up the fairly large block of time it takes to brew an all grain ale (been 3-4 years now), I tend to settle for much larger quantities of nasty beer substitute such as "budmillercoors". Real bier (beer) is almost impossible to find, or afford in "summer demand" quantities. Most micro's are very good quality, but I can brew them, or close enough, for about 45% the shelf price.

Beer makes the world go round.... cheap tequila makes your head spin in the opposite direction.... thus a gyroscopic balance of nature. It fits in nicely with Cliff Claven's Buffalo Theory.

                          Ah yes, the buffalo theory.

Cliff Clavin,of Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the BuffaloTheory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went: "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
                          > WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not

Happy birthday, surv! You can just tell people that you're 30-something. Just don't tell them you are 30-10, or 30-11, etc, as the b'days roll around. Just stick to 30-something. (Now, you'll have to change that to 40-something when you reach 50! )
                              Very interesting...
