Actually, mr surveyor doesn't look a day over 25, so he can stick with the "30 something" for a while. Pain in the butt to keep getting carded at bars and his wife gets jealous when the young things hit on him, but that's just his cross to bear.
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

          Thanks, Y'all

Had a good birthday..... nothing broke that needed to be fixed, nobody got sick or died to worry about, still had to work... just a normal day, but one without incidents (which is very unusual here) Since the 31st was "run-off election day here in Texas, my best birthday present was the fact that my 3 main candidates won. Mrs surv and I had been pretty heavily involved with the race for our State Rep, and that win just flat made my day. Also had a bit of good luck in finding some .38 spl brass. Son is taking Thursday off work for his birthday, so I may just take some time off myself and do a bit of reloading and maybe a range trip

            A lesson in irony

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."

Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.

            This ends today's lesson

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

              Good one Tinman.
I get a "newsletter" with my water bill each month. Last year at some point we recived one I did not read and the wife saved it for me. In the first months issue it talked about what we could all do to save water. We could let the grass die, wash bigger loads of laundry (Pink undies and sox!) and take shorter showers with the one you love...
The next one I had to read was about recycling. In that it told me what to recycle and how to prepair these objects for the recycle bin. It recomended I wash out the jugs and trays from the food products before tossing them (and I do).
Sooooo...to reveiw, take short showers, turn off the water while you brush your teeth, buy a water saving toilet and remember to wash my trash before I toss it.

Who writes this stuff and does the author of May's newsletter ever talk to the guy writing June's???
I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
              "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?
              "more stuff than you are"
              God Bless our Troups!

I still remember my Ex proudly telling me how she sold her food stamps
to her friends for .75 on the 1.00 for cash.

It's kinda cool that my birthday is September 3, so I always got a day off because of the Labor Day holiday! Now, I'm disabled and I have every day off.

John, our anniversary is Sep 3 and we wish we had chosen another day, like mid October. Being a holiday, we don't go anywhere because of the crowds and prices are still summer peak. Mid Oct it's not crowded and seasonal rates have dropped. Something to consider when picking wedding dates.

Closing the Chic Fil A post was rather rude and abrupt, but rules are rules. If the originator of the Chic Fil A post had simply stated that he carried his PM9 to the Chic Fil A protest the post would have pertained to guns giving Bawanna an out. Let's keep that in mind for future posts. By the way melissa5, I support traditional marriage as well as concealed carry. (See, it's easy.)

Truth be told I closed that thread not because it lacked anything pertaining to guns (there is life other than guns, just not much life) but because my spidy senses detected that there was nowhere for it to go but ugly. A little mud was beginning to be slung and more to come.
While I try never to close a thread because I don't agree with the opinions stated, I don't need to let any ugliness get any momentum.

I guess I really don't need an out so to speak, at least that's what my handlers tell me but I do try to exercise restraint as much as I can. If I listened to all the recommendations that I receive a dozen people a day would be banned. Who wants that? ya know. Be kind of lonely round here.

From my youth I was conditioned (as many of us were, at least in my generation) to what was right or wrong, decent or indecent, morally correct if you will. Now days there seems to be a tendency to make things that are inconvenient but still wrong right just for convenience and to me that's wrong in itself.

Anyhow that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I don't blame you one bit for closing it down Bawanna and I'm sorry it got ugly so fast and that wasn't my intention when I started it but it felt good to get it off my chest cause the whole thing made me mad...

I suppose this quote from a great John Wayne movie "The Alamo" says how I feel better than i can write...

John Wayne as Davy Crockett: "It was like I was empty, well, I'm not empty anymore...That's what's important, to feel useful in this old world, to hit a lick against what's wrong for what's right even though you get walloped for saying it...Now I may sound like a Bible beater yelling up a revival at a river crossing camp meeting, but that don't change the truth none....There's right and there's wrong...You got to do one or the other...You do the one and you're living....You do the other and you may be walking around, but you're dead as a beaver hat"...

Always wanted to use that quote for something and it seemed to fit here pretty good...I would like to appologize to anyone that found my Chick-fil-a post offensive as I didn't mean for that to happen at all...Tomorrow there is to be a gay kiss in protest at all the chick-fil-a stores and I'm positive their restaurant employees will treat each and every gay customer with the respect they deserve while serving up their orders of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever tasted...

                              Peace to all...

That's a classic line from John Wayne alright and describes exactly how I feel quite frequently myself and my goal in life from here forth is to find an appropriate place to utilize it just as you've done. I'm gonna write it down so I don't forget it none.

I had no issue at all with your thread. Maybe I'm too quick from time to time but I'm sensitive to ugly. In fact just last night the whole deal was on our news report so I'm not near as dumb as I was yesterday, still pretty dumb but a little less.

Again it was the direction the thread was traveling, that's all. While I'm sure I'm missing a great chicken sandwich I'm kind of glad we don't have them around here, might accidentally drive by during the kiss thing and it might just set me off.
