As a Mod on another forum, you did the right thing shutting it down. You were dead on correct that it was going to get ugly.

As ugly as Don King's hairdo........

I have a whole lotta respect for the mods here. You do a difficult job and balance firmness with common sense. Not so easy.

Getsome, I am profoundly impressed with your quote and reasoning. Thanks for the inspiration.

While I try never to close a thread because I don't agree with the opinions stated, I don't need to let any ugliness get any momentum.

I guess I really don't need an out so to speak, at least that's what my handlers tell me but I do try to exercise restraint as much as I can. If I listened to all the recommendations that I receive a dozen people a day would be banned. Who wants that? ya know. Be kind of lonely round here.

From my youth I was conditioned (as many of us were, at least in my generation) to what was right or wrong, decent or indecent, morally correct if you will. Now days there seems to be a tendency to make things that are inconvenient but still wrong right just for convenience and to me that's wrong in itself.

Anyhow that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Dude....you're an insanely level headed voice of reason. You have no obligation whatsoever to explain yourself or your actions to agitating, (pick your favorite negative descriptor) posters.

I had no issue at all with your thread. Maybe I'm too quick from time to time but I'm sensitive to ugly. In fact just last night the whole deal was on our news report so I'm not near as dumb as I was yesterday, still pretty dumb but a little less.

Again it was the direction the thread was traveling, that's all. While I'm sure I'm missing a great chicken sandwich I'm kind of glad we don't have them around here, might accidentally drive by during the kiss thing and it might just set me off.
It's a good thing that your wife wasn't sensitive to ugly. Just sayin.

Funny... People have also been told not to always do what I suggest either. Hmmmm

I wonder if I could go hang out there and just try and kiss the nice looking women that might accidently show up. I'll even wear a mistletoe hat if it will help. :hungry:

Oh no, the wife wouldn't like that. Nevermind since the dog house is hot this time of year.

A farmer had five female pigs.....

A farmer had five female pigs. Times were hard, so he decided to take them to the county fair and sell them. At the fair, he met another Farmer who owned five male pigs. After talking a bit, they decided to mate the pigs and split everything 50/50.
The farmers lived sixty miles apart. So they agreed to drive thirty miles each, find a field in which to let the pigs mate.
The first morning, the farmer with the female pigs got up at 5 A.M., loaded the pigs into the family station wagon, (which was the only vehicle he had) and drove the thirty miles.
While the pigs were mating, he asked the other farmer, "How will I know if they are pregnant?" The other farmer replied, "If they ' re lying in
the grass tomorrow morning, they ' re pregnant. If they ' re in the mud, they ' re not."
The next morning the pigs were rolling in the mud. So he hosed them off, loaded them into the family Station wagon again and proceeded to try again. This continued each morning for more than a week and both farmers were worn out.
The next morning he was too tired to get out of bed.. He called to his wife, "Honey, please look outside and tell me whether the pigs are in the mud or in the grass."

"Neither," yelled his wife, "they ' re in the station wagon and one of them is honking the horn".

That why I married a far sighted woman. She look better to me without glass and I looked better to her without her glasses.
