Maybe I'm supposed to get a full size HK45 LEM now.
I'm waiting for you to say, "Maybe I'm supposed to give one of my twins to JFootin!" LOL! About the only way I would ever be able to get one of those expensive guns.
    Very interesting...

Ok boys and girls I'm putting together a search party. I decide to be brave and strip down my beloved Cbob, early in the game it looks like it was a good idea, dirty inside, needs some loving cleaing.

BUT like a dang rookie I pull out the thumb safety and without a thought the safety plunger spring launched for parts unknown. I'd just cleaned up the room, vacuumed wiped away tons of sawdust, all nice and clean. I heard it hit bench, didn't sound like a whole lot of force but deaf as I am since I heard it it must have been substantial.

I knew it wasn't a good day. Been looking systimatically for 45 minutes. The search continues. I will find it, you can count on that, when is the trillion dollar question.

I'm so ticked off. I usually put the kink in them so they stay pretty much in place. Apparently I never did this one.

Well back to the search party.

I break out the 460 lumen SureFire for such a detailed search.

My guns are family to me.
I've only given up one and that was a mistake.

Look in the last place you would expect to find it... a strong magnet retriever thingy can help, too.

              Good luck!

I was so happy that I was able to do my maintenance... including stripping down the slide... at the range the other day without the added drama of a "SPROING!".

Here's how I find stuff like that. I tear the whole room apart and verify that there is no way it could be in the room. Then I clean out the vacuum cleaner and do the whole room. I check the dirt bin and verify it's not in there either.

Then while I'm all mad :31: I call the wife and tell her I have to order some parts. She then stands in the doorway, looks around for 2 seconds, walks over and picks up what I'm looking for and hands it to me. Then she tells me if it was a snake I would have been bit. She then turns her head and leaves the room with her head shaking.

                You should try my procedure.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I think she is related to my wife. I usually after that just call her a smart ass and proceed to put the lst part that she found back where it belongs. They are wiser than us, u know. Just sayin

Once u realize that and accept that, ur life will be alot easier to..

Mission accomplished! I did a thorough search going right of my work area, I knew it went away and thought it went right. Looked in every crevass, places it couldn't possibly get. The Surefire came into play right off.
No luck to the right so I moved back to center after checking the floor for 45 minutes at least. I have kind of a shelf at the bottom of the window directly in front of the bench. I cleared that off (alot of junk), even took down a parts bin on the shelf, thinking crap I'll never find it.

Then a very dim but visible light bulb popped in my head, at first I thought it was my time and it was the light to lead me home but then I realized it was just an idea.

Theres venetian blinds on that window and I can't really reach them but I took a ruler and lifted the bottom up, and what does my wandering eye spy but my flown away spring with both ends intact. Hallelujah, party time.

On top of that sliver of good news I managed to completely tear down, every last piece on the Cbob and miracle of miracles got it all back together with no parts left over and it even acts like it works.

                    I'm soooooooo happy!

Nice try! Perhaps not quite subtle or clever enough . . . she can't find the humor in it (pun intended).

Funny story, and probably quite accurate, but what do you do if you don't have a wife. [Had two-didn't like it] My cat's not that smart, and also suffers from a severe lack of interest.
