Looking at the picture , it looks like it was carried, but not shot all that much. Checking the wear ring on the cylinder it doesn't show that much wear. IMO

      ^^^ indeed that's a gorgeous Smith.

I finally added a handgun. It's the first in a long while: H&K USP Compact 40sw. I like my 40's.

I didn't add it but I sure wanted too. Sweet 45 Colt. Go well with my 5 1/2'' version.
Why is the dang picture sideways? Hope Jocko don't throw his neck out trying to look at it.
        Curse you photobucket.

Mommy did finally buy me an AR. Got a Armalite, had all the stuff I was looking for. They had a set of flip up sights on the shelf so walked out ready to go. I'll post pics later on that. They are in the camera and mommy has it right now.

This did come home with me. After years of prodding by the boys at work, we can once again check AR off the list.
Not a Barrett but an Armalite with the features I was looking for which weren't many. Slim floating fore end, no fixed front sight, light basic, compact. I hung some MagPul flip ups on it and a junk sight out of my drawer for now. I will probably upgrade that (maybe) and will add a MagPul Sling and ASAP ring set up and that's about it.

Wife was with me, had CC in hand, said ok, at that point nothing mattered, start the paperwork.
On the plus side it was like a farm supply place, heck of a gun area, tons of inventory and ammo like I've never seen before, both sides of a long aisle just full of everything. I didn't get any ammo, felt very lucky to get out with the rifle.
Salesman was a very nice guy, no attitude, friendly, genuine good guy.

Very nice rifle - by the real AR manufacturer - good for varmint eradication around the property and social work if need be.
How's about a Magpul hand grip with the closing compartment inside?

What were they asking for the Colt Buntline? Looks to be a 14" - 16" barrel.

It actually was 18''. It was an Uberti, so a Colt Clone. I'm struggling here with memory but I think it was just around 400 or just a bit less. I was really tempted. But it occurred to me that every time I get close to getting an AR, I buy something else and the AR don't happen.
I'm not a huge AR guy, I babysit 40 of them and the guys at work are obsessed that I should have one so now I got one. I like it a lot. A new grip might happen, there's some real comfy ones, can't remember the ones I like so I'll have to research again.
Since every email I get from Brownells anymore is all about AR's there won't be any shortage of stuff to shop for.
BUT, I'm also not a hang everything but the kitchen sink on the rifle kind either. Guys at works hang so much crap on them it takes more time to get that all off so I can go through them than the inspection itself.

This one just sang to me, I like the slim forend a lot. Flat top, just what I was looking for. I know the original guys from Armalite are all over at Wyndham now but as you say, it's still the original AR and I'm good with that.

Bet someone on the colt Forum would like to snag that Clone Buntline. Pretty good price if it's in good shape.

I hear you about the AR rifles (carbines, really).

Bought two after the post Newton prices collapsed - a S&W Sport and a Colt LE6920 - even though I had never really been interested in such a gun. Guess when the do-gooders tell me I don't need something, that usually makes me want to buy it.

Went all out modifying the Sport - upgraded the cheap factory hand guard to a $20 Magpul. Have shot 120 rounds through it. Lots of fun to shoot, makin' the iron ring out.

Have had the Colt for almost 3 years, but haven't fired it yet. Colt ran a promotion at the time - got a very nice & rugged free Carhartt jacket with it (w/colt logo). Gave the jacket to my middle son, who will get the rifle eventually. I see some folks are selling their promotion jackets for $99 online:

Nice AR from the original maker.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

The clone Buntline was brand spanking new. Place didn't have any used guns at all. Only new.

Wife thinks I was off some and it was just under 5. 480 or something like that.

It was sweet and for all the barrel it wasn't very front heavy at all. I wanted to bring it home too.

Funny, we stop there once a year on our way to the lake fishing and they always have one of those in the same spot. It's always been a 357 before, I lit up this time when it was a 45. Told them next year if it's a 45, it just might be mine.

                    • Darn it, I almost got a kink in my neck trying to look at that Buntline. 108F at the range today, so that might have dried me out some (I did have the small bore range all to myself )

                      Congrats, on the AR Bawanna!

                      • It appears there are a lot of wheel guns in that display cabinet. Around here all the big box stores & LGS are about 95% semiautos, and the rest lower end S&W j-frames, Heritage, & Taurus 85s. Rarely see anything real nice.

                        • This is more of a tractor supply type store. Very large. Unbelievable gun area though. It changed names a couple years back and I was afraid the gun part would not be as good or maybe even gone, but it's every bit as good and maybe even better.
The revolvers were closest to me in that photo but a case or so down it switched to autos and there were 3 or 4 cases of auto's. One nearly whole case of real guns, (1911's).
And rifles and shotguns the whole length of the back wall. Lots of accessories etc too.

Also lots of clothes, boots, equipment type stuff to keep the missus busy while you shop the good stuff.
In this case I was glad the missus was with me and I got the approval. Do wish I'd brought that buntline home but I'm tickled to finally have the AR in hand.

Still wanting a Schofield one of these days, don't see those in person hardly ever. And big money, so that remains on the list.

                              I like the 1026 enough that I added a 4506 (45ACP) a few months back.
