Just my 21 cents on this part to. But in watching crayons step dad ( I think he is his step dad) and watching hm throough out the trial and today testyfiing. I can see wha tI think is some what of a decenecy in this man and I thinkI wantto see the fact that he himself knows that crayon was not a poster boy at all, where as crayons mom looked pissed as all get out, pissed at the world and the hell with justice. they got their million+ plus settlemtn from the area watch people, which blows my mind why the insurance company did not fight this more on the basis of at least lets see how this trial works out. am I seein things that are not really there or what??? As I understand, stand your ground would have required Z to prove that Martin intended to attack, which of course Z couldn't have done. The defense intentionally waived a stand your ground hearing before the trial even started because self defense could be shown by the injuries alone. Stand your ground has never been mentioned in the trial...it's a self defense case.

I have only a small partially working brain but in my mind stand your ground and self defense are pretty much the same thing.
Especially outside in an uncontrolled environment as opposed to like in a house.

With stand your ground you do not have to make an attempt to flee your house and let the bad guys have it. The idea without stand your ground is surrender, leave, rather than confront.

Outside who can determine if you have the opportunity to get away. I think either or both defense scenarios would work for Z. He's on the ground, not much place to go from there.

It just upsets me all the wasted money for no good cause. Lawyers...............

I have tried my best to ignore the characters in this case. I am only interested because I may find myself in a similar predicament if (heaven forbid) I ever need to use lethal force. The circus, the racism...all make me ill.

Me too, tired of it since day one. The sad thing is really nothing in this whole dog and pony show will likely apply if you perish the though ever have to use your gun for defense.

The defense hasn't raised the stand your ground issue. They are claiming justifiable homicide due to self defense. The liberals hate stand your ground and tried to make an issue of it. The defense didn't bite. I find it far more likely the the man whose nose was broken and whose head was lacerated and bruised was the one screaming for help rather than the one whose only injury was a single gun shot to the heart. Trayvon picked the wrong creepy ass ******* to attack.

I guess some don't remember what caused the Miami overtown/liberty city riots. 4 leos being cleared the death of one man that ran from them. The blacks darn near burn there own areas to the ground. They did not dare mess around out side of there areas of town ether.

Personally if Z had stay away, stayed in his car or left the area after calling 911 as he was told to do no one would have been hurt or killed. My problem is he followed martin. For me that is not standing your ground till its to darn late for a middle aged out of shape man to turn and run.

Will he get a fair trail?? Doubtfull. Will justice prevail. To late already.

Hopefully it will awaken how people act around some they think could be a BG.

Not defending her as a credible witness, but English was not her first language. Equate it to learning to speak Japanese and read/write Katakana, but not being able to read/write Kanji.

As for the stand your ground vs self defense argument... the same as I've said before, Zimmerman followed which makes him the aggressor in the eyes of the law. If Trayvon had approached Zimmerman in his truck, then the fight and shooting occurred, stand your ground would apply...but that's not how it happened, so the defense didn't try to argue that side of it.

And as 2nd degree murder requires malice/intent, he'll probably be acquitted.... if they had charged him with manslaughter, a smart jury would convict.

Agreed. Zimmerman was told by the dispatcher to not follow Martin, yet he chose to do so. In PA, we have the CASTLE DOCTRINE. If you are shown to be the aggressor and then kill someone, you cant claim you were "standing your ground" so to speak. And by the way, I am a former LE Officer, and also black. The last thing I'm gonna do is start a riot!!

A "smart jury" would find the defendant guilty or not guilty based on the evidence and arguments presented, not just because it "fits" the apparent circumstances.

I have watched a great deal of this trial live and read a synopsis of what I missed. There is absolutely no way GZ gets convicted of anything. This should never have gone to trial. There is absolutely no evidence that GZ was guilty of anything. The prosecutors succumbed to pressure from a black community that couldn't accept that Martin was a punk gangster that was responsible for his own death.

And again, if he would have did what the dispatcher told him, we wouldn't be having this conversation!! So that makes him responsible for his own death. We all have heard the 911 call he made. The dispatcher CLEARLY stated that he didn't need to follow him!!

I agree. If I go looking for trouble I'll find it. When I am carrying (which is most of the time) I am one peaceful dude. If someone were to attack me I would use it. Had Z followed instructions none of this would have happened. I am not a police officer or the Lone Ranger and know how much trouble the gun could get me in to if I let it.
P.S. I am white but am not going to riot either way it goes. We are not so much different, are we.
