  • Ammo situation ridiculous

You can't find a brick of bulk .22 ammo around here anywhere!!!

I'll admit that I buy in bulk, usually a years worth at a time and I may have about 2 years worth at the moment, except in .22. I can't believe there is not a brick of AE .22 ammo anywhere around.

    Crazy.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I stopped by the farm store earlier today. In the .22 section some shelves were bare, but they actually did have LOTS of:

      - .22 short (hey, my old Remington 12C can handle these)
      - .22 with #12 birdshot (smoothbore, anyone?)
      - .22WMR (and I have a cylinder for my Colt Frontier Scout that will handle these)

      I passed.

Yup, it's crazy. I figure the shortage of .22LR is due to all the people stocking up on "alternative" ammo. Or is there another reason?

People are scared that they're going to face huge taxes on ammo, limits to how much they can buy and store, etc. So they're stocking up on that too, en masse.

Assault weapons bans and ammo bans will not specify caliber, and regardless what other guns people have, most gun owners have at least one .22. It's probably the one thing we all have in common.

If you can't find .223, or 9mm, or whatever else you have, but you want to be doing SOMETHING, you buy the next best thing, right?

Went to 3 different stores for 9mm target rounds, no luck. The place I normally go to had plenty of boxes of hollow point 9mms though, but they were $25 a box of 50, which isn't awful, but not what I want to pay.

I just got an order delivered today from Natchez Shooters Supply. They had Blazer 9MM for $12.99 a box. I personally like the stuff and for that price, I will buy it during these times. The whole thing took about a week and a half from order to delivery.

Just out of curiosity I checked online ammunition availability and prices today from my usual sources. Would be really funny if it weren't so sad.

I was able to find some .22lr last weekend. My .22 pistol takes CCI Minimags, no soft lead, but I found about 5 100 round boxes last weekend.....two at the local gun store (1 box limit, so I sent my wife in), and then three boxes at Walmart.

Surprisingly Walmart also has .380, and cheaper than normal, $15/box instead of $20.

I have not seen bulk 22lr in my wal mart since the election. Just picked up 3 boxes of federal 100 count 45's this am. They had 2 boxes left of the federal and about 6 of the winchester100 count. (lexington Nc)

                      THIS ! ! ! ! ^ ^ ^

Stores are getting the same amount they always did. The first numbskull that gets there when the truck gets unloaded gets it all. Its driving me insane.

I just bought a lever action .22 (so cool!! i've never had a 22) But I cant find ammo anywhere!! I never thought 22 would be hard to find. I should have done my homework i guess. :32:

I don't think anyone saw this coming at the scale that it did.

I also never dreamed that 22 would just dry up.

I anticipated all the carry rounds and the black rifle thing but everything is flying off the shelves or is already gone.

My nephew wrote me last night an decided he wants his first pistol. An XDM in 9. Only found 2 on gunbroker and high priced. Crazy times, hope things return to normal someday.

Someday will come much sooner if folks would stop hoarding the crap out of this stuff. I propose a one month "knock it the hell off" period. Lets see how quickly things get back to normal. Wheres the little smiley face thing that depicts a guy smashing his head into the keyboard?!?

The loudest cries about "Hoarders" are from those who dawdled and didn't pay attention to the news and the political events leading to the current "frenzy". They didn't envision anything like this, didn't listen to dire warnings, and more importantly, SEE TO THEIR OWN NEEDS... much as the grasshopper in the fable dawdled away the summer playing his fiddle, while the ants went about preparing for the cold, hard Winter coming.

Call them hoarders, preppers, or whatever you think will make YOU feel better about your own poor decisions!
