        Frog and Female Golfer

A Woman was out playing golf one day when she hit the ball into the woods.

She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap.

The frog said to her, "If you release me from this trap, I will grant you three wishes."

The woman freed the frog, and the frog said, "Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes.

Whatever you wish for, your husband will get times ten!"

        The woman said, "That's okay."

For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world.

The frog warned her, "You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis whom women will flock to".

The woman replied, "That's okay, because I will be the most beautiful woman and he will have eyes only for me."

So, KAZAM-she's the most beautiful woman in the world!

For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.

The frog said, "That will make your husband the richest man in the world. And he will be ten times richer than you."

The woman said, "That's okay, because what's mine is his and what's his is mine."

So, KAZAM-she's the richest woman in the world!

The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, "I'd like a mild heart attack."

Moral of the story: Women are clever. Don't mess with them.

          Good one, John.

I've been having computer problems for a few months and may have waited too long to back up the drive before replacing it. I finally used Seagate's DiscWizard to check it. I used Spinrite first and got major warnings and errors... so I tried several ways to back it up. The DiscWizard had errors but I told it to ignore them and it took about 2 hours before I got the green progress bars to start and really show progress. It says TWO DAYS remaining... down from three!

I'll just let that run its course. I'll try copying files by directory to another drive after this completes.

I did format and get my OCZ SSD120GB drive set up as the boot drive and it really smokes, but all of the programs and drivers on the 80GB drive I had to use for booting are for the previous motherboard, processor, and other components... still not caught up on all of that.

I just ordered a fast 256 GB SSD to replace the HD on my new laptop. That should make the battery last a lot longer and be much quicker!

Wifey is at a job interview... her first... and my daughter called me this morning before 8AM to tell me she's pregnant... and my P9 has been in town for two days and I'm hoping my FFL connects with it today! His hours are 11am-7pm, but he's a one-man operation and could leave for lunch or early!

Update: 1 day 20 hours remaining on backup!

            Wynn,

Sounds like some interesting things happening in your life. I am not as technically proficient as you with PCs. Lately, though, it seems like you are just proficient enough to get yourself in a lot of trouble! :19:

I just keep hopin mine won't break before I can get a new one! ...Reminds me, I need to back up my files to the external hard drive, which I haven't done in a LONG TIME.

Congrats on the grandbun in the oven and good luck to your wifey on the job search!

I made a new friend, hardluk1 here on the forum, and he lives here in my town! He is a very experienced gun owner who has a collection more like Bawanna's and has been CCing daily for 27 years. We went to a public gun range on U.S. Forestry land in Eastern Tennessee yesterday. Beautiful weather! Beautiful mountain scenery! Just one fella with a scoped 22 rifle there. We spent less than an hour shooting our pistols. Then a couple of guys showed up and started covering the top of the picnic table next to ours (there's just 2 of them and 3 target lanes) with an assortment of high capacity tactical rifles and shotguns and deploying a clay shooter. It looked like it was going to get real loud and busy, so we left. :84:
            Very interesting...

Yep, it has been a busy day! FedEx just dropped off a case of 124-gr Blazer-Aluminum that I ordered from Wideners on Tuesday! $206 delivered!

I had just ordered a case of .40 FMJ and a 500-rd case of 165-gr Winchester Bonded JHP from Target Sports USA... all for under $500 delivered... free shipping!

I inventoried the other day and decided I need some more ammo!

My backup is accelerated from estimate... down to 11 hours remaining!

Wifey applied for the job but it will be a while before she sees or hears anything. I'm spending us into a hole while she's out shopping now!

I started playing with computers about 1978, and have been building them since 1990. I can't speak for my customers, although none have complained, but I have never had a HDD fail in the dozens I have used in all those years. Of course it may be related to the fact that I build myself a new bleeding edge system every six to eight months. Another factor may be that I back up every change or addition daily to a second HHD and an external HDD. Also I periodically write backups to a DVD.

I thought I had a software problemn, but I guess it was the drive. I'm not entirely without blame, since I don't think all of the hard shut downs helped. I have used UPS's since I lived in Maine back around 1989. We had lousy power up there and I did lose a drive or two there. Up until this point, I had only one fail and it was replaced under warranty.

I started around '78 or so myself... had a TRS-80 with 16 Kilobytes RAM! Then I got a model III with 32KB! I had it upgraded with 2 double-sided 360K floppy drives which gave me headaches. The screens gave me headaches, too, I had to use a "green screen" to soften the effect the low refresh rates gave me.

After about 25 years with computers, I FINALLY got a monitor...24" ASUS LCD with 2ms refresh... the first that doesn't bother my eyes! 5ms is too slow. Fluorescent lights bug me, too.

I just ordered another 1TB drive... 6Gbps capable... with 64MB cache. I only have SATA2, though. The SSD's really work! I just ordered another... 256GB for my new laptop... gonna replace the 320GB SATA... should be a lot faster... and run longer.

I ordered a LOT of bullets, too. Watching for delivery of my P9 to the dealer. The pistol got in town Wednesday night and USPS tried to deliver yesterday.

I started with a Commodore Pet and went to a 64 when they came out. I taught myself to program that one. I pulled out my last 64, a portable model with a built in colour monitor, a couple of years ago. It booted up and set there with 'ready' and a blinking cursor, but I couldn't think of one command in Commodore basic to give it. It ran, but I sure didn't.

I really don't need a lot of HDD space since I have no movies on my system. I do have over two thousand videos, mostly music, and over nine thousand MP3 music files. Of course they're on all the drives, a one terabyte C, a 750 gig D, and a 500 gig external drive. I've always had the biggest monitor I could find that would fit my desk. Currently that's a 28 inch flat screen. Beyond that, I can't take it all in, and feel like I'm at a tennis match.

Yay! Backup completed... now verifying... I hope this goes more quickly!

I checked with my FFL dealer. The P9 is there and I'll go in tomorrow and pick it up. It's 12 miles each way and it's too close to supper... me being the cook, and all.

I was going to major in physics and tried Computer Science back in 1969. The university had an IBM 360 and the Math Department had a calculator with the size and look of an IBM Selectric Typewriter! Computers weren't warm and cuddly and we didn't have a good teacher for one class and I got discouraged and wound up going ahead in Math for my degree... had to take some of the same classes Linear Programming and Statistics... but different... finished my degree requirements late 1971 and took an extra quarter while waiting to go to Ocifer School in the USAF June 1972.
