Well as usual I couldn't find the thread where I said I'd post pictures of the Para I gave my son for Graduation so I'll do it here since I whittled some grips for it.
He's an avid baseball player so I put a Seattle Mariners pin in the grip. School colors are orange so I used another hunk of that now famous Osage Orange. Not nuts about how this set turned out but he likes em.

Well hot off the press, a set I made for my finally acquired Ruger SR1911.
I'm torn between checkering and leaving smooth. They may lose a bit of the look if I checker, the grain and color should show through but probably a lot less shine which may or may not be a bad thing.
Got another set done but I won't post a picture until I get word from Deacon. Kind of special and he may want to keep it under wraps until later.

Oops, goofed and forgot about the serial number which showed really too well. I'll try to fix that and resend the other side.

Here's a set heading to Deacon. The pics on the gun were prior to checkering to see which pattern to checker. I think the angle pattern worked pretty well with the pin and I got lucky kind of guessing where to put it. A little higher than center, pure blind hog luck on my part.
