I'm still a Buckeye Burl guy. Fantastic work B you are hired! 23000+ views... I'm in the company of a popular and skilled craftsman!"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend."

Was that your Osage Orange, I forgot where it came from. I still got a pretty good hunk of it, made my son's graduation grips out of some of it.Originally posted by Springer View PostHey Bawanna; I haven't been around for awhile too see your work, excellent as always. Yep it was mine. I bought a bunch of it about 1980, it was sawed up in 1973-74 by a local sawmill in KS. I made quite a few longbows from it. I sent you my next to last block, glad it's become famous! It's some neat and interesting wood. Take care..ALL of my guns will have wear marks!!!

Well I did some checkering this weekend. Took Friday off as a mental health day, wife was on the war path so perfect bench time cept it was nice outside.
A guy at work wanted the Afzelia Lay, knkali, when I save up some more loot I'm gonna order another hunk of it and send you some.
This is the guy that I made the doggie grips for his Father in Law who passed away last year. He's not really a doggie grip guy so he'd gonna give me half since I was good friends with him and put these on his Kimber.

I did kind of a diagonal skipline pattern. Picture don't show it too good. They feel really good and look nice in person.
Then I found a small void in the Buckeye Burl so being the selfish give me it all kind of guy I am I decided to keep them for myself. I'm gonna get more of it also, everyone seems to like it.
I did a regular 20LPI diagonal checker job on those and just hung those on the Cbob.

Kind of got to gelling on the checkering. Usually take about 8 hours or so and between getting cross eyes and a sore neck I usually can't go that long at a stretch. Got both these checkered in 2 days. A new record I'm thinking and didn't sacrifice quality either.
Oh well, until I do something again. Byehttp://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!
