"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

A guy here at work has gotten me the stretchy bungee cord. I'm looking for a source. Don't use much but I like to have some around.

Some marine supply houses and stores like REI usually have it as well.

A guy here pointed me to a semi local place Seattle Fabric that has all kinds of stuff, webbing, this bungee stuff, canvas, on and on with tons of remnants.
He says bungee cord also called shock cord is not all created equal and this place has the good stuff.
It's close to the hub bub of the city but I know where it is and as long as I can get in and out before dark, I should be ok.
Same guy also says he has some so maybe don't need to go anytime soon.
I do like the set up, holds the sheath in close but has a little flexibility when you move or if you catch on something.
Some do similarly with mag pouches etc.
Thanks much for your help and links, you guys rock.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

For you viewing pleasure, a set of 1911 full size, full thickness fresh off the bench.
This is Franquette which is a strain of Walnut I picked up a few months back. just enough for one set.
If they sing to anybody let me know, they are unspoken for. I may have to adjust for extended thumb safety, ambi safety and such.
Thought about a little bling along the smooth diagonal strip but sometimes I'm better off to leave well enough alone ya know.

Those are beauties. I really like that pattern. The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

those aren't pink grips.. as soon as I learn how to photo and pastesh!t, I will photo the pink pink pink grips the colonel did for my model 60. they are certainly one of a kind (thank God for that)Originally posted by MikeyKahr View PostHo hum awesome as usual. jocko wants some pink grips for his K9.
I have a fruit cake neighbor down the street (he rides a honder to) that I showed um to a while back and he wants um realy bad. I am thinkin maybe the colonel stumbled on to sumpin here when he did those grips in pink. I think there is a "SPECIAL" market maybe for PINK grips.
Not sure how the colonel would adverrtise this work but I am sure I could come up with the correct lingo to help him make alot of sales.

Probably will now start seein the colonels ad in the RAINBOW MAGAZINE.Just sayin. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Do I want to know what a Rainbow magazine is?
I think if you ever learn to post a picture, I'll just keel right over and faint.
How long have I been waiting to see a picture of that fully engraved model 60 that you left me in your will? Long, long time.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

the rainbow magazine is an upscale gay magazine, that is owned by its parent company called. Fruitcake Inc.
I heard their headquarters is in Seattle, wash. I could be off on that city, It might been Monroe.. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Bawanna,
Not sure about Jocko and the "rainbow thing"...but I will be sending you some tracings re: my recently bobtailed and melted 1911. I will peruse this thread and see what wood strikes my fancy. I am thinking a black/greyish figured wood somethingorother.

Got it. My bobtail is a little more extreme and I have done some additional radiusing. I have been browsing this thread and like way too many of your options. I would even entertain modifying a set that you haven't sold yet. I like the hippo tooth (teeth?) as well as the buckeye burl, really figured woods etc.
I am refinishing the frame in satin silver with the slide and all controls, bobtail, beavertail etc. in satin black. I will use stainless hex screws for the grips.
Post some of your remaining grips or ideas and I'll hopefully make a decision. Oh, I was also thinking about the half checkering and a thumb safety finger groove like on the (GASP!) VZ grips. Nothing overstated or too wide.
