  • I got the Hogues but like the wood better. The Hogues feel good.... but look well like rubber grips....

    • You talking all rubber Hogue or the wood with the rubber front strap? I don't recollect seeing a 1911 with finger grooves all wood.

        • I'm kind of all over the place this time of year with limited bench time but when I get a chance I'll play with that some.
You get the first acceptable set off the line.

Have a couple people been waiting way too long, weather getting nice (too hot this weekend), outside stuff to do, lake time for a couple weeks and all the getting ready and stuff, I'm kind of booked up.

            • I am still waiting on rosewood grips for my harley with finger grooves. Guess I am getting put back further and further on the back burners. I understand????

Definitely 2 halves. With bushings you can't slip them on.
They are a challenge matching the contour of the front strap so they look right top and bottom.
The one set I made with the pad around the front at the bottom wasn't as difficult as I expected.

If it was easy, everyone would want to make grips right?

Jocko, those Harley finger groove grips were shipped last week! You didn't get them yet?

                • I made another really big mess today. Opposite of rain, it's just too hot to do much outside so did outside stuff early and then whittled in front of the fan, nothing like hot, sweaty, sawdusty discomfort to make a derelict feel alive.

                  Here's the result.

Think I'll take the rest of the day off and roll thru the sprinkler.........

                  • Gorgeous!

At some point today the temperature on our front patio reached 109 degrees. But it did not inspire me to accomplish anything.

                    I am such a slacker . . .

                    Thank you for sharing, sir
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

                    • We're hot but not no where near that hot. I would not accomplish anything at all at that temp unless I had real air conditioning.

We got one in a window but you have to stand in front of it to get anything good out of it.

I agree with Tucson. Gorgeous. Real gorgeous. Maybe even better than the Buckeye Burl and you know how much I like that. Consider it a good hard day's work, time for a brew!

The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

the colonel has written me off and I think those grips are for Monica, who if I recall told the colonel she would personally stop over some evening and pick them up and pay him in kind. I might be off on that a tad. Just sayin
