Congrats to you both! It's kind of like taking on a new child and he's certainly a lucky dog!

Meet Rojo (spanish for red, except I pronounce it with the J sound not the H as it should be). Someone had adopted him once but brought him back cause he didn't get along with their cats. He does ok with my cats, they just bat at him and he takes off running. LOL It was half price weekend at the pound, so I got him for half price. That was nice.

That's great, Tom! I wish you many long years and happy companionship with this one!

Thanks everyone. Bawanna, they bob their tails pretty often. He seems like a pretty good dog so far, still young and trainable, but not so much of that puppy energy that keeps em bouncing off the walls.

Probably helps keep them from knocking stuff off the coffee table when they are excited!

I know my daughter Catahoula, looks kind of like Marmaduke clears everything when that tail gets to whipping.

Beautiful heeler! They are very trainable dogs. And very loyal too.

I had a blue heeler for about 15 years. Got her as a fresh weened pup and we raised her like our "first born". Strange coloration...she was dang near silver body, black ears/feet and snow white tail. She "helped" me work cows for a few years when I was managing a college demonstration farm, but normally she ended up visiting "the pen". No words could express how we felt when she had to be put down. It was 15 years before I could accept another dog to fill her place. My dobie, Guinness, is close but she ain't no "BooBoo".

There ain't nothing like the bond between a man and his heeler.

Oh he made me mad this morning, was a beatiful rainy cool morning, and I had him on a tie, with the patio door open so he could come in and out, and the damn fool comes INSIDE to pee and poop. I imagine his time in lockup kind of screwed up his housebreaking, cause they can't go outside and have to use the floor. I just hope he catches on quicker than Porky did. Guess I'll have to keep him on a leash and watch his every move for a couple weeks when he's in the house. I had to crate him while I went for an appt. today, so he's back out on his tie up so he can stretch his legs. I'm not sure where Porky was getting out, so gonna have him on a tie up until I can figure that out. Gonna wait until about an hour and half after his dinner and bring him back in on a leash and see if we can watch a movie or something.

It has been 2 1/2 years since I posted this, but it's funny:

                              Jack Daniels Fish Story....

Finally got around to going fishing this morning, but after a while I ran
out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth snake with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth; I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back and he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on my fishing with the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same cottonmouth snake with two frogs in his mouth.
