          • He carved the grips sir, I did the photography.

I think Bawanna was a little shocked. I mentioned something about some grips for the wife (she hadn't decided exactly what she wanted) in trade for some bullets I need to ship out... He carved on a chunk of wood he just happened to have and sent me a photo to see if the wife would be interested and how she wanted them checkerededed. She simply said I'll take em and when I asked her about checkering she thought it would take away from the "grain structure" (I agree). When I told the "great one" he shipped em right out so fast he forgot to include the note about the screw not being ground to fit. The wife told me not to mention anything about the screw after I hadda sand on the last set just a bit.

              • The rubber part is what used to be the standard SP101 grip. They come with a platic insert generally.I dunno if I am "nice people" but Bawanna most assuradly is and he does excellent work.

                  • Ok I want that for my GP100 now. I'll get in touch for that run.

                    • Bawanna do I need to send you the rubber bit off my GP100 to do a set out of some of that Afzelia Lay?

                      Comment

                      • I'm not sure. I imagine the GP100 would be larger than the SP101?

Don't send anything until I get some more of that Afzelia. I don't have any more of it but I want to get some anyhow.

Jlott, what kind of wood you looking for on yours?

I might be able to find somebody around here with a GP I can borrow too, then we could save shipping the rubber back and forth.

Looks like the Bawanna household will be seeing some sawdust flying soon. Good news!

                              • Cost?

Bawanna, is it proper to ask how much a set of grips for my newly acquired 1911 compact (the American Classic Amigo) would be? I like the laminate grips on my gun, but not what I would have chosen. The more I bond with this gun, the more I think about having it Bawannized some day (soon?). Just wondering how much to start saving for....Christmas is coming, you know!

Also, I think you need to display all your handiwork in a gallery designated for photos only (with a few annotations, of course). Love looking at your work and don't mind reading all the posts between the pics, but sure would be nice to have a photo album to flick through while I'm eating a peanut butter sandwich....
