  • With the exception of one of the first sets of kahrtalk grips going to my good friend Old Lincoln who unfortunately is cursed with living there, nothing in this thread has anything related to California.

I couldn't say for sure though, I never tried to check out, I have thought about it a few times, most recently yesterday, a very bad day with the violets.

Fortunately I decided the way to check out was to jump into a rattlesnake pit. Good thing for me is we don't have rattlesnakes in western Washington. Guess I dodged another fang or two right there.

Put some Chief pins in for a guy but I can't find a picture of those, I know I got one someplace. Hate it when I can't find stuff.
      Very nice job!
A SEAL 1911, plus a live .50 BMG round, + Garand Bayonet... Your photo composition definitely says something B

      • Truth be told that's my 1911. He wasn't sure which 1911 he was gonna hang them on . He has quite a few. He brings em into the office once in awhile for show and tell.

It was in SEALS for like 30 years, like a White House liason for quite awhile. Don't tell too many war stories and I don't ask.

You can tell talking to him that he's been there and done that.

He teaches once in awhile at Gunsite. Just retired locally here so he's hoping to get down there more often.

        • Bawanna, haven't been on here in a while, and looking over the pages since then, you are absolutely a talented man. Those ivory grips and BEARDOG's cocobolo grips are just perfect. Great job!

            • Just got another small shipment of stabilized wood today. Took nearly 3 months, the guy is very busy and had other stuff going on.
Sad thing is I had the money when I ordered this and now I don't. Story of my life. Guess a credit card check will have to do.

              Left to right.
Black Ash Burl (red dye), Box Elder Burl (green/black), Box Elder Burl (brown/black), Box Elder Burl (red/black), and a hunk of Afzelia Lay.

The red/black Box elder is for the wife of a member here, poor thing has been waiting way toooooo long, and it will sadly be a bit longer. But we're closer than we were yesterday.

              • more of the Colonel's mastery...

These pics do not do these grips justice. They look amazing in person. Colonel B made these from some crude tracings on a couple of box tops. Really. He's a living miracle. Thanks Colonel. You know I appreciate you.

                • Wow, they do fit pretty darn good. That slide lock is a very close thing but looks like it clears, the plunger tube worked perfect, I was concerned with that.

They flush on the mag well. I went inside the line down there thinking a tad shorter would be better than a tad long.

                  They look good.

Thanks for posting the picture. If occurred to me I didn't take any myself since I couldn't hang them on a gun, that part was weird.

                  I'm so happy they fit.

I got word last night that the Hippo tooth ones didn't. Still sorting that out, might be back to the drawing board on that one. That makes me sad.

                  • Seriously B. You couldn't have done better if you had the gun in front of you. Tight clearances in all the right places. Everything lines up perfect. Good thinking keeping those mainspring pins covered. I could go on and on. Thanks!

The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Like wrap around the front? I did a couple with just a piece at the bottom that wrapped around.
                                Never really a wrap around.
Often thought Hogue had a nice thing with wood grips but with rubber finger grooves on the front strap.
