  • ^^ great advice! I was going to tell him to just use them as a test fitting pair but glad he went above and beyond!
Focus on your front sight..... The rest should be blurry!

    • Here's my latest project for Nimbadew (might have the spelling screwed up on that).

Kind of a work in progress and going slow and careful on this set. Thought I'd post pics here so he can see and tell me where to go from here.
One thing I learned is that most 1911 screws are tapered. He wanted me to use allen head 1911 screws on this set but the lower screw has so little to screw into that the 1911 screw will just barely thread, not much holding it. If Kahr sells allen grips screws I'm pretty sure they won't be tapered.
I'll have to research untapered 1911 screws if there is such a thing.
      For your viewing pleasure.
      The original slab.

So far I've left these just a little bit bulky. He wanted a full grip and the back strap not reduced.
Since he's relatively local we can try to get them fitting just the way he wants them. (I hope).

I think I'm gonna take a hiatus from MK grips for a spell, take a ton of time and I've had the borrowed MK9 for probably a year off and on. I probably should give it back at least for a while.
I'll try to whittle a set from time to time and offer them up.
Think I'll go out and blow leaves for a while. Entertaining for the neighbors, watching a guy in a wheelchair with a back pack leaf blower.

Gotta fix a right side brake on the manual chair first, always something huh?

Guess you'll have to settle for the picture, nimbadew. Nice work as always, uncle B.

                  • These just got in from the Colonel, will be auctioned off and they are even better in person than the pics can show.

                      • Bawanna, remember these myrtle wood grips for my 9mm Commander? You did them up right; complete with the gold prancing horse medallion. Jez, that was more than 3 years ago. How many grips have you done anyway?

                        • Of course I do. In fact I still have your sticky note attached to my safe right above the handle.

I save everything and those still look pretty good, holding up ok?

Hold'in up great & look'in great...and the grips too! If it wasn't for the laser etching (family coat of arms) I'm having done on the Ruger CMD, I'd have you do some magic for that pistol too.
